I have an 81 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton 4x4 set up with a 455. When I built the truck I set up the engine to read oil pressure off the back of the block. Apparently that came apart as its gushing oil out the back. I need to pull the engine to fix it, which I've started.

The truck has become an extra at my house and I don't have any need to put it back together. I'm leaning toward sitting on the motor for a future project and letting go of the truck.

The body is nothing special, typical rust spots plus hail damage. I was focusing on the mechanical first since it's an outside-parking-only situation for it. Underneath it's new 20 gal tanks, recent brakes, rebuilt trans. new exhaust, decent tires (32's), and overloads front and rear.

My initial plan was to pull the 455 and all the conversion bits and sell the roller locally. But then thought of checking if there's any interest in it here as-is, ready for you drop your motor in, or in the conversion bits as a "kit".

Anyone building this combo anymore? I see the last related post was March of last year. It doesn't take much scrolling to get back to '04 when I built the truck before this one.

    Looking for your opinions...

    Thanks

    What does the "Roller" include?

I’d be interested in more info/pictures of what it took if you wouldn’t mind sharing. I’ve had thoughts of putting an extra 455 I have in my 85 k5 blazer.

LDPosse posted a writeup in an earlier thread: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/whats-the-best-way-to-de-chevy-my-4x4.56549/

It wouldnt open for me now, but maybe because of something with my phone. I remember from then it was pretty good and very similar to my own notes on what I'd done.

If that won't open for you either I'd be happy to do up a new version. There isn't that much to it really. I complicated my 4x4 trying to make it look original. My 2wheel drive that I'd done first I focused on pure functional.

For someone here, wanting to put a 455 back in it, everything but the engine itself. Someone who just wants Chevy parts, I'll keep the 455 install bits.

Might keep back the front overloads too. They should probably go with the current bumper (towtruck bumper). I have the original to put back on.

My write-up was specifically for putting a 455 in a 2wd. I wouldn't mind putting a 455 into a 4x4 chevy but I'm not sure it will clear the front driveshaft.

Would know better if I were interested if there were pics and a price and is it a long or short bed?
