"Duane what makes you think that 69 is not yours in the background? There's no chance it could be at that dealership at that time?" It could be, but I can not really see an indication of the thin body stripes on that car. There are some bright spots there, but who can say. Of course it is an old very grainy pic and the car is far away from the camera, so it's really hard to make out. Cool pic Walt. Duane
Building still looks relatively the same. Notice the three late 50's gas pumps. Possibly Tokheims. Odd where they are because there isn't a lot of real estate between the side of the building at the side street.
Looks to me like that's a skylark. Can't see any hoodscoops. Maybe just a coincidence someone was there driving a 69 skylark?
I was thinking same thing. It's tough to tell though because of the glare combined with the grainy pic.
There appears to be a '67 GS in the background of this picture. Hard to tell if it is at Motion, the Chevron or the used car lot.
Look at the curb in the picture it appears that's driveway or side street and 67 appears to be on the Motion lot.Could me totally wrong though. Chris
Yes, that is a side street (see picture in post #507) and I think you are right, the GS is on the Motion side of the curb.
A little info on Balwin Firebirds from the interweb http://firebirdgallery.com/motionfirebirdlot1.htm The name Baldwin Motion is almost universally associated with the famous Baldwin Motion Camaros that this company produced. Some may not realize that the same Motion Performance group modified a few TAs here and there as well. While the Macho TAs are rare and the Fire Ams are even more rare, Firebirds modified by Baldwin Motion would have to be classified among the rarest of rare in the Pontiac community. I have yet to do a lot of research on these cars so the knowledge I can impart here is limited but it is my belief that these particular "tuner" TAs were not widely popular because a common part of the modification process was an engine swap to a chevrolet powerplant. I believe these swaps took place primarily because the Motion Performance group already had a lot of R&D invested in modifying chevrolet powerplants for big hp gains for the Firebirds little brother, the Camaro. As I do more research and learn more about these cars, I willc ertainly continue to update the information I provide here. Of course I am always open to any information site visitors can provide. That's "The Ugliest GSX" at the GSX Reunion. Tim & Rich did a great job on it, I basically only helped with the acquisition and with some parts. When he got it I gave Tim 1 of everything I had in stock. That car went a good ways towards cleaning me out of parts. Almost got in a fight over that car. This 69 car was a cream puff in regards to Tim's car. Duane

That car was so funny at the Reunion. Everywhere I went people were asking each other if they saw the "Ugly GSX" and they were all referring to Tim's car. After hearing this a bunch of times I got an idea. After the show I asked the other Board of Directors of the BPG if I could make up a "Special Award" for the car. They were ok with it so I got one of the un-used show plaques and had the trophy company make up "The Ugliest GSX at the GSX Reunion" award. When I gave it to Tim, you would have thought I gave him a million dollars. Maybe Tim can post a picture of it here, hint, hint. I have said it before and I will say it again, that car found the right owner. Duane
I don't see the door edge guards on the Motion photo you posted , those would stand out pretty good against the paint. Paint is too dark, no vinyl top (roof is shiny), no hood scoops, the pin stripes would show up a little and there are none. I took one of the photos you posted of your car and messed with it in photo shop, I could not get the paint to go that dark. Like someone said, I think is it a Skylark. As concluded from the year of the Firebirds I would put that photo around the last quarter Sept-Nov of 1974 (left over 74 Firebirds and the new 75's).
