Good afternoon. I have a 72 Buick GS 455 and the smog pump has been removed or at least that is what I believe resided on the aluminum bracket above the power steering reservoir. Unfortunately removing the smog pump left the ugly smog pump bracket in place. Can this bracket be removed without a substitute bracket being put in its place? If not, will an earlier model 455 power steering assembly bracket (without a smog pump) work as a substitute allowing removal of the smog pump bracket.

Certainly! The PO literally hacked mine up with a grinder so i replaced it with a factory non AIR bracket. Its a good reason to take a trip to the boneyard. ws

Thank you both very much for the input. Looks like a pre-72 PS bracket is the answer.
