    Hi,

I think I fell in love with the look of the front bumper guard on the `71 model GS and wanted to ask if these are still available, even being used for different GM models of the era ? You got a source, or will I have to check in the "used parts"?

    Thanks for your input

Jens, There is no source for these '71 front bumper guards (rear bumper guards are not available either). I'd suggest creating a new post in the Parts Wanted section to find what you want.

Hey Troy, thanks, so I`ll do! Yo see quite some cars with them, but then, not too many either....are they specific for the 1971 GS, do other guards work as well, e.g. from a Chevelle?

These guards are a one year only part. Although the '72 front guard is similar to a '71, the '72 has a feature in the cutout that is clearance for the '72 rubber impact strip that a '71 does not. The '71 rear guards are similar to the front, just two vertical guards. The '72 rear guard is a "U" shape and surrounds the license plate area. '70's do not have guards on a GS.

I have a driver quality set somewhere in my stash. I'm not sure if they would be in good enough condition for you. Let me know. After I bought those, I found an almost NOS set, but one had a chroming defect. A board member (?) in Ca got it rechromed for me pretty reasonably. That is the set on my car.

Sales Code N5 - Front and Rear Bumper Guards. Love 'em or hate 'em. I like the way they break up that huge horizontal expanse of chrome, especially in back...

    Hey UticaGeoff,

sounds nice, you have a picture of them? I`m interested in your offer, want to shoot me a p.m. with your price and maybe a pic or two?

Dummy filler chrome capped bolts were used in the holes when guards were not ordered. 72 used a huge guard in the rear that surrounded license plate.

Exactly that is why I have to laugh at those things. They were designed for that not looks.
