    Jens,
I think those are '72 only hood grilles.

    Hey Troy,

might be, I recall someone in this area redoing a 71/72 (?) GS convertible a few years ago, might be from his parts collection. Didn`t know they had different grilles in these years, thought this was restricted to the 1972 air cleaner.

The last set of reproduction 71 hood grills I saw, the 4 mounting pins on the back of the grill are much shorter than the originals. Does anyone have some of these reproductions in use and confirm this short pin issue?

Heard the same thing as Troy and would appreciate input from anyone having experience with the repops.

The first ones they reproduced were the black ones the ones with the silver were done later so I wonder if they adjusted them after that first run ? If not that would be a pain if the stems are too short. You could probably fix them by grinding down the ones one it and putting new ones on. I have seen guys do this on the metal ones as well as the plastic ones before.

TTT, anyone with reproduction 1971 hood grill experience? FWIW, the pair I purchased and returned had the silver on the perimeter and the raised ribs.

I do have a set from a 71 gs hood. They are painted black in good shape. I can get pictures if further interest.

Interested. Pictures of top and bottom would be much appreciated. Are all the studs intact?

Brian does have broken studs. I am not very good with the picture downloads. But if you email me @sweetpren@msn.com I can have my wife get some pictures out.

Thanks for looking and for your reply. But I’m looking for a really nice set with the studs intact.
