    Hey guys,
I am thinking about getting a new rear end for my 71' Riviera.
It seems like by the time a guy was done finding and refreshing a a used unit, it wouldn't be THAT much less than a new one.
I don't see anything set up for an E body Buick, but I could order it bare and weld on my own spring perches.
Strange has some good sales going on and I was wondering if anyone had gone this route?
I was thinking the S60 with a helical gear locker.
I have a motor being built that should be in the 550hp range, and it is a heavy car...
I welded a full size BOP 12 bolt (ring gear bolts) in preparation for the motor, but have heard horror stories about "Lincoln lockers"
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I have a 3.42:1 posi rear axle for a '71 Riv, but I'm not sure how to get it to North Dakota.

I was just going to suggest that!
If that is an option for you, I would be interested ...
    Thanks!

If you go the Strange route, I have a 3.54 Strange S60 with the S-Trac in my '64 'lark behind a 401 and love it.

That sounds like what I am after! I might have to give that a try.
They sound like pretty stout units.

I'd beinterested in that rear end for my '71 Riv. Let me know if it's still available, condition, and how much $ you're asking..

Popular topic. I have a 71 Electra with a hot 455 built, looking for rear end options to match a 4L80E.

Looks like I'm stuck buying a fabbed rear axle or finding one of these Riviera GS 9 3/8 carriers/gear setups right?

Is Strange someone big car owners would recommend?

To put a finer point on your issue, you would need a post 70 year model 9 3/8 rear. After 70 I recall an Olds unit also fits. Check with Brian or Jim in the gear section of the Board.

I just research the s60 ss a replacement for my 8.5. I have moser axles now and not happy with the quality of the spline work. it appears the 30 slime is not going to hold up even though I'm under the rate torque spec from their own publishing.

I am very interested in a Strange S60 for my '69 Riv.

Has anyone pulled the trigger on an S60 for a big car?
I'm finally to that point of my build. Wondering if I could order a bare S60 with the A body center section and weld new spring and trailing arm brackets on. I think the ears for the upper arms are taller on the E body rear end, but I plan on using adjustable bars and hope that the difference in ear height is not a big deal.
I would like to not have to do a bunch of cutting and welding on the frame.
Any advise before I jump in?
