my shifter release bar is missing the ends and I need to replace it. T&A has one for a 1970-72 shifter.
It seems the shifters were different on the 68-69 then the 70-72 years.
Any info on repairs or replacement parts would be appreciated.

Post a picture. I'm not sure what exactly you speak of.

68 and 69 will work for parts 70 71 and 72 will not. they reproduce the 70-71-72 but not the 68 69. You will need to find a used part. Good luck in the hunt.

Ok cool now I know what fits what, thanks Tony, kind of sad the years are so different for the shifter.
Troy, I'll post a picture of the part later if I can get it apart.. hung up with a bruised shoulder injury...

This is the 70 and up trigger. Mike Garrison (RACEBUICKS) reproduces this out of aluminum.

The two pegs on top are for the return springs. The ends are tapped for the retaining screws. Not sure how different they are. You might be able to fabricate something.

Mines definitely different then the later release bar. The spring mounts are recessed and instead of retaining screws to hold the 2 bars, they have plastic divits /boss that broke off.
I like the idea of using aluminum. Thanks Larry, I'm going to contact Mr. Garrison These shifters must take a lot of abuse over the long haul.

Yes, I have Mike's trigger and the shifter U clip, both made out of aluminum. Those are the parts that break and wear. The polished aluminum is way more durable. Is your trigger missing, or is it just damaged? Post a picture, I'm curious what they look like.

The ‘70-up shifter as a unit will bolt in and work, it just looks different. I don’t think any of the parts interchange but the whole thing will bolt down to the lower bracket thingy.

Okay I have know idea how I loaded the pictures? But there they are. I'm going to have to find 1 of these levers as it's a part of the lower handle.
