Well I've been dealing with this pain for some time and tomorrow morning is the day.. Looks like I'll be out for awhile. Thank goodness for DVR and all my shows I've been recording. But you guys who know me know that I can't sit still. Well at least the cars are clean and put away for now. At least next Friday is the grand national roadster show so I'm going.. Anyone else have this done before..
That's not always true. Do exactly what the physical therapist suggests. It depends largely on what you have done. My shoulder was inoperable.
Good luck tomorrow Joe, Hope all goes well Before you know it you'll be wrenching on your cars once more.
Had it, left shoulder is great now. Took 1 year for all pain to stop, and full movement to return. Tore it at gym. Right shoulder started acting up after went back to gym. Worked that shoulder out and it feels great so no more rotator surgery needed! I wouldn't recommend rotator cuff surgery, thought it was going to be easy..... good luck!
One of my techs had it a couple years ago. He didn't stay off work as long as the doc and PT told him too, was back at light duty after 2 or 3 weeks if I remember right. He still has nagging issues every now and then if he's working with his hands above his head for too long, but for the most part is fine. Either way, good luck my friend. I'll be praying for you and shoot me a text when you're able afterward.
I've torn everything that hurts. For the most part, I have no pain. I stretch every morning, and the surrounding muscles make things work. One day, things will be really bad. Lots of things I can't do for long or at all. Usually doesn't hurt, but just can't do it. One thing that comes to mind is picking up a box by squeezing it on the sides. I can squeeze it, but can't move it through the motion. Once the supranational tendon is gone and the short head of the biceps, it is all but impossible to lift things in front of you. For instance, I have no way to push on my belly with my right hand. Get whatever you need fixed ASAP, don't wait like me until it's too late
Good luck Joe, it’s a long process. My brother had his done and he’s like you, always on the go. He was stir crazy for awhile but is following his doctors orders with all the therapy and restrictions and is nearing full recovery.
Combination of many things. Power lifting. car wreck (big), bike wrecks,. Honestly. I tore it one time where most of my right arm turned black and blue from within. It didn't really hurt much and so I did nothing about it. Bad decision. I raced road bikes for years. If you are a legit contender, you will eventually find the pavement. Oh, and to anyone reading, I would never ever ever bench press with a straight bar. Dumbells OK. It is amazing how many people at the gym have a problem with their shoulders.
After surgery your gonna be in pain, pain is temporary. After that your going to feel useless, your not. Your healing, dont push your body. Enjoy your mini vacation. Prayers your way.
Bench press did me in. No more b-presses, can do chin-ups and roll out wheel real well. Old age plays a part in it also.....
Had both done, a couple years apart. Not too bad. Ask your friends and neighbors who is the best therapist. Tell that therapist you want him to do what is best for you in the long run and for him to ignore your complaints and tears and, I repeat, for him to do what is best for you. You wont regret it. Good luck,
Follow post-op instructions to the letter. In general, most poor surgical outcomes happen because patient ignores/modifies instructions...
