I’d like to keep the ass end down on my ‘72 Lark while using a 30” slick. Given stock tire size for a reference (about 26.5”). I’m wondering if a 2” lowering rear spring is too much?

    Any thoughts or experience guys?

I don't see that happening, for a 30 in tire in a stock wheelhouse you will possibly have to jack the rear up, or limit suspension travel quite a bit

we ran 30x9 with morose rear trick springs. didnt sit any lower, my alf weibe setup does sit lower and I can still run those tires........but the springs are very very stiff so downward travel is almost none, and infact the upward travel is what I'm limiting. but this setup address the roll center on the a bodys more than others.

I think 2" down with full travel will be tough with 30" tall tires

Why such a tall tire? You can do a lot on a 28 x 10.5. I do it with a drag radial.
I would not use a lowering spring in the back. They are stiffer for cornering, but don’t respond the same way for launching. A good HD spring is fine, and depending on which spring it is,the car might sit slightly lower with it.

tires are funny things though....I can run 29x10 or 30x9. one is 11.7/ one is 11.9 section width........but go to 29x10.5 and the section width goes to 13.2.o_O

5401’s, some good double adjustable shocks HRPartsnStuff rear bar, UMI adjustable upper and lower arms and good slicks

What rear gear and trans gearing are you running? That will make decision on tire diameter easier.

Frame notch will be done and I can move sheetmetal around. Have a large rear sway bar and adjustable control arms. Rear end is 3.73 and I have a th400 (2.42 first) but thinking about a 200r4 (2.75 first). It is a street legal car - goal is max traction on road or track.

The 5401 is a Moog number?

That’s the Moog spring # in my set up, but it’s just one piece of the rear suspension that is setup to work together for both street and strip.
