Buff and clean, leave it alone.....That was my plan when I was trying (unsuccessfully) to get it to my house...…..But it's yours so change all you like, but there are so few Originals left....my 2 cents.
A white vinyl top would look good on this car, but what makes this 72 GS 350 unique is that light green vinyl top. I would just detail the car and leave it alone, keep it all original.
I agree with others about how good the white vinyl top would look but I'm with Rich Johns on this one. Leave that original green top there. Unless of course it's getting dry and aged looking then by all means, go with whatever you want. Sweet car!
I had one with same seamist and green vinyl top. Had black buckets with shift on the column. I sold it and the guy immediately painted it red and said it had 100K less miles....
I would leave the top as is because it still presents very nicely. But yes I can see a white vinyl top w that interior. I think you purchased right. Lots of eye appeal, fun and well equipped with bucket seat console interior. I HOPE this is the future of the hobby - an honestly described car that does not cost $55,000! I can't afford those.
Congrats! I think a lot of us would've liked to had that one but for one reason or another couldn't. Reminds me a lot of my first GS. Obviously your call but I'm with the guys who say white would look great but keep it orig. although if it needs a top, I checked with SMS last year and they still have the orig. dark green top material for my '70 - Not a cheap date, but I need to get one on order. I bet an original light green top would look great if they have it. I know the dark green tops all faded pretty badly and usually look awful. my car came with a new white top the previous owner had purchased and it would've looked great, but once I saw the new material sample and a pic of a car someone sent me in the same color combo as mine with a new top, I was sold (Discalimer - I happen to really like green cars).
Finally had some time and initiative to give this old girl some attention, I ended up going with my original plan, and of course some unexpected mechanical fixes. A hard detail to bring out a little shine in the original Seamist Green New White vinyl top New 15x7 Rally's with 245/60/15 TA's in the front New 15x8 Rally's with 255/60/15 TA's on the rear. New KYB Shocks all around. A good tune with adjusted timing. The ride quality, and I think the looks are night and day, still a 10 footer, but great cruiser for those Grocery and Home Depot runs!
