So, I lost a buddy and his wife in the last couple of days. You just never know what’s going on in someone’s head. I knew this guy… Or at least, I thought I did. Prayers for his kids and family as they try to sort things out. http://www.mysuncoast.com/2019/01/1...der-investigation-involving-married-couple-2/
That's tragic for sure, especially being their daughter was home. Both of them so young also,...prayers sent for the family
A man loses so much when he argues and put himself on the same emotional level as a his women. Keep your cool guys and bite your tongue. Sorry this is happening to people you know.
You just never know what is going on with people behind closed doors. I hope the daughter has others who love her and can help her through this.
I spoke with Jeff’s father yesterday, they have his daughter. Their son was flown home from Hawaii where he is serving in the US military. Grandfather Dennis and step grandmother Judy are the only family they have in Florida. Fortunately, they at least, have them here.
Sad .. my wife is a visiting nurse and she'll often tell me a story about a visit to a patient and I frequently respond .. "You never know whats going in inside someone else's head"
I remember when I was about ten y.o. and on a summer night riding my bike over to a friends house, and near there was an apartment building with cop cars all over the place ! some guy shot and killed his wife and three kids & took his own life ! I'll never forget that as long as I live...it is vivid to this day in my mind....So Sad for those children in the OP !
Mental illness and the games one's mind can play with oneself can be hard to understand, unless you have been through it yourself or with someone close. I have seen this as I went through a lot of hell with someone I love. I haven't even told my wife much about it. I plan to keep it between myself and loved one forever. Suicide has more victims than those who die. It affects everyone who loved them and leaves them questioning themselves as to 'why didn't we see this coming?". Prayers for those affected.
Chalking things like this up to mental illness is not necessarily fair to the truly mentally ill. Sometimes people just do things like this in a rage and with limited premeditation; sometimes they are just evil.
First and foremost, my condolences for your loss of a friend and his family, Doc. What a horrible event. I hope this isn't too dark and doesn't go off the rails, but.... I too have had the unfortunate experience of the residual effects caused by suicide. Of many folks who decide that's the only way out knew how it really did affect those around them, I feel as though they'd rethink the decision entirely. But as previously mentioned, there are those with such a warped view due to unexplicable mental issues, we can't fathom what's actually going through their mind. But as 2manybuicks mentioned, there is also the sad fact of the matter that there is evil in this world. Taking yourself out is sad enough, but taking unwilling participants with you is next level. Yes, there are some who suffer from some skewed view that may cause them to see things in a totally alternate light. However, there are also some who are just dark, demented, angry, vindictive, and take pleasure in bringing pain to those around them. Maybe it's a power Trip, maybe it's unfiltered hatred, maybe it's {insert reason here}, who knows. But some are ill, some are just evil, and it's always been that way and always will be. Again I reiterate, Doc, my heart goes out to you and all those around this family for what has happened. What a tragedy. And I sincerely hope this post doesn't come across as insensitive, that's absolutely not what I want. But there are many views and angles folks take that others will never understand, you can't quantify it no matter how hard they try. Some are ill, some are evil, it's just the world in which we live.
Did you miss the part I have in quotes? Two different things. I never "chalked it up". See it on the news when everyone says "Never expected him/her to do this". Always horrible when the suicidal decide to take innocents lives.
You know guys, this thing has been going on since the beginning of time! The Cain and Abel story is the first documented case of a killing. When people don’t submit their lives to be under God‘s authority, these kinds of things continue to happen… Jeff was never interested in the things of God.
Smokey15 -- I did not want to imply that you were chalking this up to mental illness. I could see how my post might be interpreted that way before I posted it, and debated about how to rephrase it. In the end, I said the heck with it because i was unsure if I was imagining the possible inferences and also, let's be honest, because I was to damn lazy to make a highly explanatory re-write. My apologies for making a post that could be misconstrued, especially since I kinda saw it coming. -- Steve
