People often say, we got a wildlife problem. I tend to think we got a human problem. .......Jim

Jim we nearly wiped them out 100 years ago. Finally the Bears are coming back . Because of the excellent job of Gary Alt. Funny story . Sportsmen in Pa. ran him out of town. threaten his life. After he had the sportsmen shoot thousands and thousands of Doe (female deer) . And made an Antler restriction . Rules not to shoot deer that are young 5 points on rack. He was a very smart man. Now the deer we harvest here look like deer in Ohio illinois, And Iowa. Pa. deer NEVER got this big.

Takes about 7 or 8 years to get a kill permit in northern Wis. At 4 dollars a year then when you get picked another 45 bucks if you still live there.

The problem is loss of habitat, building everywhere so the animals have no choice but to cross roads. We keep letting more and more people into the country and it’s terrible for the environment. You can’t be for both. More people = worse environment. Just keep hammering the little guy driving his car.

The North hills still has some expansive sections of forest, the Bears and other wildlife come out of the forest in areas to scavenge for food which is a recipe for disaster. It usually causes a lot of excitement when the bears are seen in the neighborhoods but It usually goes without incident. Unfortunately animals get hit regardless if it’s in heavily congested areas or out in the middle of of nowhere. Blackbear growth in Pennsylvania has exploded to an estimated 18,000 today, so it’s not only attributed to human population Growth that these occurrences are happening more often.

Keith i don’t think they know the true number. Game commission is getting nervous. Scrambling to make the right decisions. Before the Bears explode to 25,000

We got lots of bears here in the UP. They're in and out of my back yard all the time. I have an agreement with them... I leave them alone and they leave me alone. Motion lights on the corners of the house and out buildings helps to. Makes the wife feel safer.

They use the 18,000 as a low estimate, Numbers are probably actually closer to 20,000, and yes numbers are expected to rise rapidly at current growth rates

Taking my son and Daughter out to jersey shore Four a four day vacation. And no not the beach. It’s the Big Mountains. More Bear their per square mile than anywhere. We will walk all Day. Trying to spend Quality time with the kids. Teach them what hunting is all about. Probably like finding a needle in the haystack. Just hope i don’t get lost. or bite by a rattler.

    About 1 1/2 to 2 miles
I'm up off of Mt Royal blvd
It's funny if that was a deer or anything else it would have laid there forever but it was less than a day for the conservation officer to pick up the bear

My father in law ran into a pa state game commissioner from up near Erie. He told him when they trap these nuisance bears up that way, they bring em down and let em go down here in Greene County. We’ve been seeing more and more of them down this way.
