I have factory Buick Hurst stick. And mounted to a muncie. So why IS itwhen I bolted factory stick and matching plate to a 77 Super T-10 it rotated entire shifter back about10°

I had the same problem when I went from an old T-10 (63) to a muncie M20. Had to either lengthen or shorten the rods to get neutral straight up again. That was 46 years ago.

You would think that if they say a mounting plate is for both a muncie or a Borg Warner that it would keep shifter housing in a vertical line as opposed to one straight up and the other tilted back

The mounting plate is the same but the shifter rods length will adjusted or changed.

If you put a Muncie 4-speed next to a T-10 and measure from the front face of both transmissions back to the centers of all the shift shafts, you will find the reason you have to re-adjust the linkage...

    Hope this helps... Crash

I had it mounted. Been a couple years ago. Not in car but on kitchen floor. The rods are adjustable images-6.jpeg I remember the shifter housing was tilted back like one in picture. I don't remember if it was that far back. But it wasn't straight up like on muncie. If they have a different mounting plate that positions it adjustment slot and top mounting bolt in-line. That's what I want to know Thanks again.

I never noticed that problem on any of the 4 speeds I've worked in, always assumed they were the same. Is your mounting bracket stamped or cast? Is it possible to egg-out the holes to straighten it out. You can straighten the neutral position by lengthening the rods and adjusting the stops. In that picture, it looks like the reverse rod has enough adjustment but the 3 -4 rod does not unless it's straightened.

That was the only thing that I had not allowed for/ if the housing was moved further away then rods could not be adjusted to engage. The shifter I want to use is 442 stamped Hurst unit similar to Buick.

The above shifter mounting plate is from a 1971 and later F-body w/ST-10, and will mount the shifter higher, further to the rear and tip the shifter back as posted above...

This is not the correct shifter mount for a GM A-body...

    Hope this helps... Crash

The correct shifter mount for a 1968-69 Skylark/GS, is the same mount for a 1966-69 Cutlass/442...

The problem is this mount only works on the 27 spline Muncie and early T-10's...

I had a customer a few years back that wanted to put a ST-10 in his 1969 W-30, so I made a custom mount and linkage,
to use his 442 OEM shifter and handle and come thru the tunnel in the correct location...

I think I still have the pattern to make another...

    Hope this helps... Crash

If my memory is correct the OEM linkage didn't work with the ST-10...

I'll see if I can find the pattern for the mount...
