With the Holley fuel injection "carb" being shorter then the quadrajet Im curious if you can fit an SP1 into a 65 skylark 455.
I can't speak to your question specifically but I did gain an at least inch of clearance when I switched from a Quadrajet to a Holley Terminator throttle body EFI. The shape of the throttle body allowed me to remove a spacer between the air filter and carb that was necessary with the QJet. I can now use a 3" air filter where before I was limited to 2".
I spoke to a someone at Aeromotive and they are aware of the issue with the Tanks tank. The issue seems to be that the fuel tank on the Chevelle, Buick, etc is wide and thin and causes the problem when dropping below 1/2. There is simply not enough fuel remaining to supply fuel from. He said that their tank with their foam around the pump solved the problem and for higher hp applications he recommended the https://www.aeromotiveinc.com/product/phantom-bladder-baffles/. To those using the Holley Hydramat with success, what hp level are you at and are you hitting the car hard while watching your fuel pressure?
I just have a "mild" small block...but I drive the snot out of it and hit corners about as hard as I can. Never had a hint of starvation.
in my application it is a 450 rwhp turbo V6, in a buick skyhawk, not a corner carver, but do accelerate hard. I do watch fuel press, as lean means head gaskets are instantly gone.
I just purchased the tank pictured below with the 340 Liter pump. Holley Sniper is next. Should be starting install in a couple of weeks. That’s if life doesn’t get in the way, oh and that thing call work.
Have the same tank based on recommendation from Kory @ Tanks who was very helpful. Tank is slightly smaller than stock but fits well. Car is a couple of weeks from running and will update if any issues with EFI once on the road. Steve
Have you finished the installation? As usual didn’t get to mine yet but now that I finally found a 350 block worth building I have a little motivation.
Yes, car is done(mechanically anyway) EFI is good but requires program adjustment for starting as weather gets colder.
I have the Super Sniper EFI + Hyperspark Dizzy and coil ready for my 68 TwinTurbo. I expect big improvements compared to the actual Blowthrough carb. Especially the timing control is what im looking for. im excited
Completed install 2 months ago and have no complaints. Does require a little tuning, but nothing extreme. At least on a stock motor the rest needs to seen. Have another motor being built with a lot of TA goodies.
I just gave up on trying to run less than a half tank of gas. Went to the track and the fuel pressure dropped, put two gallons of gas in and it came right back up. Probably won't be making many track trips but will hit it on the street so half full and above it will be.
