Was not happy with the painted wheelwells so made some more carpet sections and covered them up.

My dad is flying down from Alaska for his birthday and also for father's day, which also happens to be my favorite car show/cruise of the year, Car d'Lane. So we're going to that next weekend. Haven't spent either with him in probably 17 years, and we're very close, so excited for that...... Overheated after 3 laps of the cruise circuit last year when my little brother was down, so working on an electric fan and shroud for the Riv. Had my tire guy inside out the tires. Figured I might as well repack the bearings and replace the seals while we're in the air......

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Test that shroud before you get in traffic. Friend of mine had a 'shallow' shroud on his car and it made it overheat. It left little room between it and the radiator. Seems it 'reflected' more heat back than the fan could dissipate. Removed it and everything was good. Is the engine fan still functioning? If anything, I'd install that in front of the radiator as a pusher.

Will do, Jerry. Got it polished and mounted up last night. I've still got room between the electric fan and the engine to put the mechanical fan back on, I'll probably throw it in the trunk on the road trip "just in case" as I'm not going to have any time for a real test drive before we take off for Idaho. I've got the same fan with a different shroud (obviously) on the F100, and it keeps it cool even when making laps on the race course. Hopefully it works for this one, too, but I know what you're saying about it being awfully close to the radiator. Trial by fire!

EDIT: Ever notice how your engine bay looks so great in person, but in pictures especially with a flash it looks like you just got done mud bogging and half your paint flaked off?

Thanks guys. It's been a lot of work and learning on it. I think most would call it "done" at this point, as would I but it still "needs" air ride and 4 discs. Then I'd like to swap it to at least a ST400 or TH350, probably a TH200-4R now that I think about it. And fuel injection. And air conditioning. And...............

Car made it there and back without a hitch again. I'll post some pics of the amazing cruise and show in another thread, but here's some of me and the car along with my pops. My buddy that lives in the Coeur d'alene area is a pretty good photographer, so I let him shoot some shots. Great weekend.

I am "kicking around" the idea of selling the car. I don't want to put up a for sale ad as I'm not fully pursuing it, but the thought is definitely there the more I look at 1960 Cadillacs, which is another car on the top of my list of "must haves". I love the Riv: it's been a lot of work and fun, gets attention like nothing else out there, but if the right person comes along I'd let it go.......I guess you could read all the way through this thread and see where it was and how much work went into it, along with most the flaws.....PM me if seriously, honestly interested.......Might end up being my Mecum or Barrett Jackson selling test. Or I might change my mind tomorrow............

Got a Scanlan window switch wire retainer and put that on. Had to push down on the passenger front switch before but works great now. Great product, check it out on eBay if you've got a 63-65 Riv and your switches don't work exactly right. Friend took some pics of the car in the garage and enhanced them. Thought they were pretty cool.......

Just a breather hose for the trans had come off. I used vacuum hose, which apparently doesn't like trans fluid so swelled up and slid off. Put some more appropriate type on and drove to work today. All good so far.
