Which number is it on a Wix and a Purolator. The shop try to give me different ewery tim. Is it the same 67 to 69. Thanks Goran
Thank you very much. That one they sent me today. I have Wix 51049, what are they for? Also have Pur L30005, What is it for? Wix 51258 is the same 1967 to 69? Thanks Goran
The Wix 51258 is the correct filter, it basically fits ALL the Buick V8s from 67-76 and more. It is like a AC Delco PF-24. Wix 51258 Wix 51049,
Looks like the Purolator L30005 crosses over to the Wix 51049. Probably the Nailhead Oil Filter (no drainback valve) https://www.oilfilter-crossreference.com/convert/Purolator/L30005
I like the longer 51049; more filtering area. The drawback is no anti-drain back valve, but do we really need one? I know it decreases lifter noise for a second upon startup. Best, Ranger Aiken, SC
Absolutely need the anti drain back valve on the 67-81 Buick V8, the filter sits sideways, and drain back is a problem. The Nailhead oil filter position is vertical, so oil stays in it.
I'm going to put the acdelco on my 430 that came up on the computer at the parts store. Should I really get a wix, does the delco have the drain back system
Thanks, as always, Larry. But other than a little possible lifter noise at startup, what is the purpose of the minimal amount of retained in the filter due to the drain valve. I can't imagine the engine would suffer any additional wear? There is plenty of oil on all the surfaces to last them a millisecond until oil reaches them without the drain-back valve. Not questioning you; just curious. I agree that a filter w/ the valve, due to the angle position of the filter, is preferred. Best, Ranger Aiken, SC
I use the Napa 1258 because I work at a Napa. These are Wix 51258. Here is the list from TA Performance. http://www.taperformance.com/oil_filters.htm
