Nice car but bad choice with a 64 motor https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Buick...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
There's a big misconception out there that having the 64 aluminum heads and intake is an advantage over the 65 cast iron heads and intakes. the aluminum ports are smaller and the carb uses a special choke setup. definitely NOT an advantage in my view.
I hear you , to be honest it was just too much car . All my driving is freeway I've love it was stock 401 . I think Skylark is much better looking car with trim and halo molding . I just love the floor shift and power of 401 plus the look . I have a 65 Gran Sport convertible and all I drive is my custom Skylark hardtop LOL .
I agree on the Skylark trim. I really like the side trim. When I started looking I wanted a turn key driver. After a series of misfortune and bad decisions/procrastination, I ended up with a project car. I just keep telling myself "At least it will be what want with no compromise when it's done..."
I had a 64 Special post coupe 300 4 speed car. It tipped the scale at 2,950 and would beat every non-hypo Mustang in town. I later put a 340 in it which added 200 pounds over my front wheels. The 340 hurt my 0 to 60 time and handling but helped the top end (100 mph +). Overall, the car was more fun to drive with the aluminum headed 300 in it. I am putting ported aluminum 64 heads on my 65 convertible 4 speed car.
