Got my steering box back from Carhex (it looks amazing, thanks Hector!). As I was bead-blasting the pitman arm and hardware, I noticed just how ugly the bolts are... two of the three are actually corroded away.

I see a few options for replacements, but they look like, like most other things, up-to 1972. Does anyone have the the lengths for them? I only need to replace the two short ones (4.5"). The long one measures (5.75") under the head.

I know I should be able to hit up a local hardware store for the 7/16 - 14 bolts, but after the local Home Depot (it's about all we have around here) had almost no 7/16" bolts last night, I figure I'll just order the right ones. I am not going to get back to working on it for a few weeks, unfortunately.

    Thanks! Steering Box Bolts.jpg

Years ago, I purchased grade % bolts from the local hardware store and ground the thread end at the proper angle.

Perfect - just the info I needed. I can reuse the longer one.... Thanks!

Hit up Todd Miller right here on the board. He's the bolt master! Probably has them in stock and he's usually cheaper than buying them from the usual vendors

    Thanks again, Todd -

Just to close the loop in case anyone with a '73 and up find this thread in a search - the two shorter bolts are the same as pre 1973, it's the longer one (5.75") that seems harder to find. Not an issue for me, as it was only the two shorter ones I needed to replace.
