after frying my mind (which doesn’t take much) searching for info on transmission lines for my 430/2004R swap in my 65 Skylark I’m more confused than ever. I see on here a lot of guys run the lines through the frame, I like that idea as my old bent up steel lines run right under the exhaust manifold outlet. Any advice I can as far as what fittings and what length of line I’m going to need would be great. Plan is to run them to the stock radiator transmission cooler. I have a three row cross flow radiator. Thanks Bill
Buy a 20' roll of push lok hose and fittings. Lots of info in a thread I started . http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/transmission-cooler-recommendation.299758/
Larry, Any issues with the line in the frame as far as movement/vibration causing rubbing on the hose? My only concern with running inside the frame like that would be the inability to secure that section of hose to disallow any movement. Scott
None, that push lok hose is very sturdy. If you are that concerned (I'm not), you could easily secure it with zip ties through holes in the frame.
Good info as always Larry but some of the links don’t work anymore. The ones for the trans and radiator fittings manly
Will these work at the radiator? https://www.summitracing.com/search?keyword=-6an x 1/2-20 inverted flare
Look carefully at your frame, on my 65, and 64 skylark non convertable frames, There is not a passage way thru the spring pocket as there is on the later models.
Here’s another question for you Larry. I installed my qjet today on my stock intake with a spacer I got from Ken who built the carb. The TCI tv cable bracket hits the intake. Do I need to move up to a 1/2” spacer?
