I just watched the monkeys disassemble a 40k mile rust free 72 riv for a pro tour project and it left me a bit queasy. They are chucking the entire chassis and drive train and chopped the top and cut out the floors for the new chassis. I'm a gs guy but I bet you rivy guys would be crying if you could even watch it. After seeing what the " count" did to a rivy a few years back I'm hoping the monkeys will not have murdered a rust free original boat tail for nothing. Hopefully that chassis and drive train and all the other cast off original parts will find there way to a good home. Thoughts ??

My opinion is Bitchin Rides is the best of those shows with the most talent while Fast and Loud is the worst with the least talent.

I watched that last night, what a waste! First thing out of their mouth was lower it and put big rims. Then all the chopping talk started. And they say they are putting $300K into it!
I quit watching them a couple years ago, and they haven't got any better. But I had to watch when I saw them advertising a Buick build, and disappointed again.

STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

I can save everyone the torture of watching it as a guy summed the whole show up the other day, and I quote:

    “Motor won’t fit

    Car won’t start

Paint dept will get the car late

Richard will complain about the cost.

    They’ll be running behind schedule

Richard will run his hands through his hair while wearing bedazzled pants worried about the deadline

Car finished right before the deadline

Richard has a beer and lets out a celebratory wooooooh!!

Tune in next week for a repeat of the scenario.”

Having seen and heard the man and his ultra rich money man/buddy in a restaurant, I can tell you that they are both, indeed, total d-bags in person. Richard's toothpick arms and legs sticking out of his Mr. Potatohead body when he's not sucking in his gut for the TV is almost comical. Having seen a few of their more famous cars in person (even the ones while Aaron was there), I can tell you that there's a ton of guys on this very forum doing work in their home garages that would put those guys to shame. How they got a TV show is beyond me. You can usually see the spots where they weld panels together through the bondo they lay on top of it, and their paint jobs have dirt in them. That 4x4 Camaro was lifted on regular old square steel tubing. The short VW bus looked like I let my Aunt Ethel loose with a cutoff wheel and an arc welder. The only way these guy's cars get into magazines or when they have to build something that has to be right like the time they drag raced Big Chief, they call in some other builders to do the work for them. How embarrassing would that be? "Yeah, we got a hit TV show based around our building custom cars skills, but this one has to be done right. Better bring in an expert!" Their cars are decent for someone that builds his stuff at home, but not for a professional shop. I'd be embarrassed to have my name associated with them.

I truly believe the reason the two first Pontiac Firebirds ever have such a hard time selling for the decent amount of money they should bring is because the poor sap who got them in the first place was somehow swindled into bringing two very significant cars to these clowns. And now those cars will always have the stigma of being "A$$ Monkey" half assed cars until someone completely tears them down and re-restores them from the ground up. And a wrecked Ferrari F40 should not be hacked together by a bunch of guys who are decent home mechanics at best and then blacked out. Ever.

If I recall, they couldn't handle restoring the Pontiacs themselves. They had to bring in a Pontiac expert. They bragged about how well the F-40's frame was repaired by experts, but they had to grind and hammer on the car to get it back together. Their work is terrible. The best shows are Iron Resurrection and Bitchin' Rides. Sometimes, Iron Resurrection will actually leave the correct engine in the car, but most of the time, they install an LS, just like Bitchin' Rides.

How about the one where they cut up a PERFECTLY good rust free '63 Riv. Something paint & fab. Chopped the roof then shortened the rear of the car. All the rust free floor pans, etc. I must say on the boob tube it looked pretty good, BUT I bet in person it's probably another ass monkey job.
It's ALL about ratings. The more who watch the longer it stays on.
I feel Overhaulin' is good along with Bitchin' rides.
Other than these two the rest are JUNK!!!!!

I like the show and I think Richard is funny. You can tell he doesn't much care what people think about him. I can't stand that Counting Cars show...dude is stuck in the 70's...

And in his defense...it's cheaper in the long run to cut up and build a solid car than to cut up, repair then build a rusty core.

I did not, but that’s every episode...the dramatic build up. I’m just saying from a business aspect...it’s cheap to build a solid car than a scrapyard car.
