As y’all know I just bought my first old school recently. Now when y’all fill up the gas tanks on these, do you just keep filling til it stops automatically or less. I feel like a lot would spill back out due to the angle of the filler tube being so low/almost flat in comparison to the newer cars.

Fill it ‘til it clicks! The biggest problem for me is the fact that pump hoses have gotten so short in the last decade; I really have to pay attention to where I stop the car.

I have noticed that, too. I have to make sure that I park closer to the pump than I normally would for some of the hoses to reach.

Always feel like my car is way out into the path of travel due to having to pull so far forward to fill up.

    I love gassing this up.

The look of confusion on people's faces is worth it.

You should see the looks I get when I fill up the X-Camino. It fills from inside the bed.

fill all the way . lets face it by the time you've gone a couple miles down the road the level is drastically reduced anyway :(

    • Just make sure you have the right gas tank cap.70 is not vented and it does not go in a 71=72 car, these are vented.. Bruno .

Depends whether you are talking with respect to the cap or the tank. A 72 Electra tank is vented so uses a non vented cap.

Given the low profile of the tank and low angle of the filler I'd be wary of using a vented cap. 150 lbs of fuel under acceleration forced to the back of the tank....

I see you know the trick of using your gas cap to hold the tag down!

What year Riviera had the fuel door at the outer edge of the bumper?

Almost impossible to find for the uninformed......
