Wonder what the qtr Mile time is on this

    according to the text its 1 mile a second so = 1/4 sec - 1/4 mile

    yes, but that is at top speed. 1/4 mile from standing start is probably a much more pedestrian 1 sec.

    Can you imagine having to realine those tracks b4 each run..........how perfectly straight they must be.

    Of the friction of the sled going over them.

    Just crazy land speeds there.

    My Electra could do the same, I just kept fainting each time I tried getting over the intersection before red light etc, so I had to limit the trotthle travel.. Typical Buick problem I guess..

    There was an episode of Mythbusters where they used this track. They propelled a sled down the track with a flat face on it, I forget how fast it got. At the end, it hit an old Ford Fiesta or something like it, and absolutely obliterated it. The slo-mo playback was, as Darth Vader would say, “most impressive.” The car barely reacted by the time the sled got to the drivers seat.

    Here is another video on the same track, my mind quickly wonders to the idea that this 500ish mph is how fast jessi combs was going when she crashed.......

    Thanks Ben. My mistake. I didn’t know there was more than one of those facilities that could handle that kind of speed.
