    Much better.

Also got the heater box back in. I forgot how much that project sucked.

I do have heat and defrost, though but did manage to break one of the mounting tabs on a heater cable. I'll get to that this week and get my disaster of an interior back to normal once that's squared away.

    Busy day today.

Tackled and won the battle with the impossible firewall heater box nut.

The trick is some caulking on the fingertips to get it started and then a long, thin ratchet head 7/16 wrench to finish it off. Works like a charm.

Then we move on the the search for Lord Vader's birth certificate. While coming up empty, I did manage to gain a functioning fuel gauge. So, there's no more "guessing" how much gas is left.

Overall, this sending unit from CARS was an easy install. Of course, I benefitted from the use of my mechanic friend's lift - and also from a 50 year old car that's never really been exposed to the Northeast elements. Also, Patton Glade's gas tank pad is a perfect fit.

It'll be nice to know when I need to gas up.

Brett, thought I would see you at the Berkley show yesterday. Now I know why you weren't there.

I got a text from a friend who said there was a "triple black" '70 GS convertible there. I immediately knew who it was.

That's a decent show, too. I'll be there next year.

    How'd you fare?

Registration opened at 8, we got there close to 11. So no hardware for us, participant judging was already about finished. Nice show, an eclectic mix of cars. Amazing amount of "new" cars, maybe 20 Scat Pack Challenger things, 10-15 Camaros, 'vettes, Shelbys, Mustangs, SRT Jeeps, Chargers. It was really hot out, that's why we went late. Two Buicks besides mine, a 72 lime GS350 in average shape, and a really exceptional maybe 68 or 69 burgundy wagon with a 455.

I think that 72 GS 350 is actually from Berkley and I see that wagon at all the local cruise nights.

Most of these shows are all new stuff. Seems like the days of the "classic" car show have gone by the wayside...

Yep! Sounds just like the cruise-in's around here. Challengers are the new "bellybutton" cars. More of them than Mustangs...

Local show yesterday afternoon. Probably the best one I've been to in the last couple years.

I think there were close to 100 cars. This really sharp '63 409 showed up later in the day.

Local show today with a friend who's finally taken his car out of hiding after forever.

    Mom also made an appearance.

Looks like my season has been cut short.

Little to no compression in cylinder 3. Time for a new motor. 20190921_120927.jpg 20190921_120918.jpg 20190921_123824.jpg

There were a few underlying issues that I didn't address.

Nonetheless, it's a good jumping off point to start gathering parts for a new powerplant.
