Rory was a natural if there ever was one. A guitar seemed to be an extension of himself, almost as if he was born holding one. His musical acumen, largely ignored by music critics but hailed by other musicians, is clearly evident in the early days with Taste.

A largely forgotten voice is Terry Reid. Jimmy Page actively sought Terry to become Led Zepplin's lead vocalist, but Terry, having other obligations he felt compelled to honor, declined. Terry recommended Page talk to Robert Plant, and so goes history. One wonders what could have been.

A rediscovered favorite from my misspent youth. A masterpiece by a genius bass guitarist.

I used to make the drive from Montreal and Toronto regularly in the 70's and Radar Love was a staple. Especially since I was driving a "Half ass Ford and I'm shifting gear".
I had a rusted out 67 Ford Falcon Sport 289 4 sp. There was not much of the rear inner wheel wells left so it would instantly fill the car with smoke when I would do burn outs.

Terry Reid is a good, solid choice. Didn't do too well over here but was popular in the UK. This is one of my favorites by him:

Guess I'm Old-------School but without the late 50's and 60's there wouldn't be any rock n' roll. From the replies on here it appears we are a product of the era we grew up in. Lots of great music mentioned on here, thanks guys.

Oh, one other thing. Don't forget the fantastic music that came out of Motown. They are a vital part of Rock N' Roll.

I'll take Memphis soul over Motown any day.

When it comes to Motown, I much prefer the covers, especially from the hometown bands:

That is something I never heard.
    Man had integrity.
I heard zeppelins manager had the meeting that got Rory out of Taste contract.
Also zeppelin wanted him on their record label.
He said no to record label.
Bad Co was then their first signed.
Rory turned down joining the stones and even Coverdale wanted him to replace Richie Blackmore in deep purple.
So many call him a major influence including Brian May, Slash, glen tipton, Michael Schenker, the U2 guy, Gary Moore just off the top of my head.
Rory Taste opened for Cream at Fairwell concert and the filmed later did Irish Tour 74 as he loved Rory from the Cream show.
    Man had integrity.

I’d put Rory up to anyone live.
There is so much recorded material.
I have a lot in my personal library.
Man played from his heart, never from his wallet
And did not use a set list at his shows.
His bands knew they better be ready , lol.

    I highly recommend Davy Knowles
Band of Friends tour tribute to Rory.
Went a few times and will go again.
The band rocks and Gerry McAvoy is great too.

This is with Ted McKenna on drums.
He played with Rory then Michael Schenker Group the Greg Lake and Gary Moore among other bands.
He passed away last January while getting hernia surgery.
My girlfriend spoke w him after the show at the meet n greet. She had no ideA. I was really happy to watch he was a real nice humble guy and dad.
    RIP Ted.

In 1969 Blind Faith toured America with opening acts Taste and Free.
    Now that’s a knockout billing
