Naw, lol Moleary I experienced that with my 70 Stage 1 4 speed car sitting in their parking lot. EVEN took the guy out there & popped the hood to which he said “Well...somebody put that in it before you got it because it doesn’t exist” What didn’t exist were my future visit to their stores!lol
Same thing with a '63 Riviera and trying to get parts for a 401. "I need ___ for my '63 Riviera with a 401" "I don't see that, the Riviera didn't come with a 401. Either a 400 or a 425." "Well, they called the 401 a 400 that year. I need it for a 400 then." "You said 401." "Ok, look it up for a 425 and give that to me" "But that's not what you said you had, and I'm not going to give you the wrong parts and have you bring them back when they're wrong." ....And onto the internet I go........
I got all you dudes beat ...... Every show I take the Pontiac too I get someone saying why did he put a straight six in there or Pontiac never made a straight six Yep your right the PMD on the cam cover stands for Plymouth motor department
I was at a car show with my hood open and a 20-something came over, looked at the engine and asked why I put a Mopar engine in it. I asked what did he mean, and he said “GM engines ALL had the distributor in the back - only Mopar engines had them in the front!” I guess the GM letters in the block casting mean “Got Mopar?”
I love a bigger, better, faster, stronger(you say those words real fast, and my kids all know and laugh when it do) any where. Great to just drag em along. The more they "know" the Wilder my questions and comments get. I have great amusement in these interactions. Even better if there is more than one of them .
An uncle of mine kept trying to tell me that my buick had a 351 Windsor in it everytime i saw him lol
O'Reilly's: I asked if they had rebuild kits for the Edelbrock carburetors. I know you're already thinking what they asked, and you're right. "What make and model are you working on?" I wanted to call him an idiot but I decided to go the calm route and let him do it for me, so I said, "You do realize that Edelbrock carburetors are an aftermarket item and were never installed on original production vehicles of any kind, right?" And of course, he didn't disappoint me, he went right ahead and called himself an idiot by saying, "I still need to know the make and model of vehicle you are working on". I really wanted to ask if he actually worked there or if he was just hanging around wearing an O'Reilly Auto Parts shirt, but instead, I just left the store. No point in continuing that conversation.
My favorite is still asking for valve cover gaskets for a whatever year truck with a whatever size engine and getting asked 2wd or 4wd.
I look up all parts before I call store and give part number but they often still want to go thru the whole deal and want to know what motor when ordering a tail light bulb or wiper etc... Just tell me if you have the damn number I gave you!
Imagine how a trip to the parts store goes when you order something for a 1979 oldsmobile with a 1970 buick engine in it. I just order for an electra 225 to avoid the headache.
Hahahahaha or does it have AC or NON AC for brake pads....I always say well it had AC but it's not working so let's go with NON AC ahhhhh these youngsters...
Asked for Differential cover gasket for my 73 Riv. Idiot asked me ; " Automatic or Manual Transmission ??? "
...used to enjoy "mental fencing," but now life's too short and opponents too stupid. "You've done nothing when you've bested a fool."
