A question has come up about Windshield Washer Squirters. There were 2 different types of these used and I am trying to find the answer to a Question.

What I need to know is the following, and I only need the answers if you are sure that your hood and squirters are original to your car. If not then you cannot help with the info I need.

What I need to know is the year car you have (from 1968-72 only) and the number of holes you have in each squirter, ie. does each one have 1 or 2 holes.

If you have a 70 car, then I also need to know the body build date of the car.

Also, you may want to list which plant the car was built at. There might be plant variations going on as well.

OK, let me know what you have.

    1968 Canadian built Skylark.
    2 each, 1 hole squirters.
    Hood and squirters are original.

    NO NO NO.

This is NOT how the board works.

WE ask the questions, Duane answers them. Not the other way around. End of story.

On second thought, it could be a spammer posing as Duane. Keep an eye out for PMs from Duane saying he's a chick who "like man who into repair car".

    Duane,

I'll check this weekend and let you know. I have no reason to believe they wouldn't be original to the car.

    12/69 Flint built Stage 1.

Duane, is it going to be a tie breaker thing for judging? Like 401 points?

No, John Chamberlain noticed I had the "double squirter" nozzles on my 69 car and thought maybe they should be the single hole variety. Personally I had never even heard of another version, but we looked at Terry's 69 car and it had the single hole version.

I figured I would dig into it so I called Gene Hill. Gene has a 69 Skylark hood with the single hole squirters, so there was another one, but his 69 GS has the double hole versions.

I looked in the assembly manuals and 68 thru 70 cars show the same part number. Then I looked at the 71 book and it states the part number was changed in April of 1970 (4/70), and ran thru to the end of the 72 model year. So now I knew there were 2 different varieties but am not sure how the parts changed in appearance.

Now for 69 (and I believe 68) Oshawa Canada was our home plant, so I, and John (He is from the Pittsburgh area), could be seeing plant differences here, I don't know. But do know there are a lot of hardware differences between the Canadian and Flint 69 cars.

Also, the Assembly Manuals were developed by Buick, for the Flint Assembly Plant. They often include different part numbers for GMAD plants, but not always.

The bottom line is, I found something I never knew about and got a little interested. At this point I have no idea what is going on, or if we can ever figure it out, hence this thread.
We will see what we find.

3 ea 69 hoods all have 1 hole squirters

1 ea 70 hood with original paint 1 hole squirter Date code unknown.

    1 ea 71 hood 2 hole squirters

I got the following info from James Weinman

    70 GS 455 Kansas, 09C (1 hole squirters)
70 Skylark Custom Flint, ?, (1 hole squirters)
    72 Stage 1 Flint, 06C (2 hole squirters)

So it appears to follow the assembly manual, with the 68-70 cars using the single hole and the 71-72 cars using the 2 hole squirters.

I guess the only thing left to figure out is if the late 70 cars, built after 4/70 came with the 1 or 2 hole variety.

Duane , I read some where that Motion switched out to the 2 hole squirter on the 69 Camaro's they had in there shop, and they picked up a 2 mile per hour in the quarter ...But seriously the 4 69's i have had have the single hole one of those was a Canadian built.

    thepartsman Back Ordered Again ?

    70 GS, Flint 05/70 – 1 hole

    71 GS, Flint 03/71 – 2 hole

I agree Duane for such a small part it is interesting.

GM / Buick states the 027 number was still in use as of and after May 1, 1970.

But the Sept. 1970 printing for the new 71 model the 591 number will be in all printings as of Nov.1, 1970.

My 2 cents is about finding Flint cars June and July 70 builds to compare with Aug. and Sept. 71 builds.
