That looks like a very nice car for the money.

First off, it's a Skylark, not a GS340(note the hood spear and lower side molding) Looking close at all the photos I am seeing a pig with lipstick. Chrome inside and out appears to be shot, looks like a cheap paint job with flaws and issues everywhere. Looks like a lot of mud in the rear quarters. Look close at this picture and it tells the whole story on the car

I noticed the GS wasn't in the right place or even installed straight on the quarter panel. Wasn't aware the hood spear was only on Skylarks and not GS's Learned something once again from this forum! Still looks like a well equipped "Clone"

X2. I noticed the same things. A friend of mine has a real `67 GS340 and this car is a far cry from what it's supposed to be. "looking for one of a kind, well here it is". He's right about that.

The picture I posted also shows how bad the paint is if you enlarge it. Only Special Deluxe, Skylark has the hood spear. It was also part of the W1 packagei GS Ornamentation Option (GS grill and monogram, hood top center molding, fender side ornament, rear quarter GS, rear deck lid molding and extension including GS ornament) (Special 2 door sedan only). Have seen a few of these rarities over the years.

Would the VIN tell if it's a GS or not? I may have owned this car, if it's the same one I sold it for $1,800 24? years ago. I put the Skylark interior, hood and trunk lid on it. I still have the original GS340 rear seat in my attic if anyone needs it. Had I finished it, I would have removed the hood spear, welded in the holes and put the Special DeLuxe/GS trim on the trunk lid (which I included with the car). The extra trim I included with that car is now worth more than what I sold it for.

Doesn’t explain the Skylark trim down the side, that is not something someone would have added

the vin is correct, it's a 43417 so it must be a Frankenstein of car or parts. still a pig with lipstick

A GS340 is a Special with a 340 4 barrel, a bigger sway bar, hood scoops, Chevy rally wheels and a 3.23 rear. If you add Skylark amenities it becomes a pig with lipstick? Yes, it is an amateur restoration.

Overall condition makes it a pig with lipstick, it’s a 30 footer pretending to be a 19 footer. actually all the extra garbage on it it makes it a pig with “bright” red lipstick. I have to wonder if it’s not even a re-body.

If the rust holes in the trunk lid don't scare you away, the lame bodyline on the lower rear quarter should tell you this car simply doesn't have quality bodywork.

Philb they were not chevy rally wheels!
They were similar but the rectangles were shorter lengthwise and wider in the middle.
    Its a noticible difference .
The breather on there is gs340 only in buicks but also shared by some Pontiacs and vettes. So repos are made.

Never noticed that difference. I think I still have the spare somewhere, I'll check it out.
