I need new tires for myToronado, which has whitewalls. Maxxis makes the size I need. Are their tires any good?
Maxxis tires that I got have whitewalls that turned brown. Plus the traction is not great. I would not buy them again.
Original tire size was an 8.85-15. They are a cheap piss poor tire that kids buy that cant afford real tires... I personally would only use them for farm type use. never exceeding 25 mph
All I can say is read the reviews. Their trailer tires a second to none and have a fantastic following everywhere. The Good"craps" that they replaced hardly lasted 5000 miles and succumbed to a blowout, luckily not damaging the trailer. So far, their trailer tires have been EXCELLENT.
Made in China. Good review.....Who runs St tires on a trailer now a days.... Smart people have changed over to LT.
Bob, I haven't been able to find an LT tire that fits my combination, so I guess I'm not smart. All I can say is they work expreemly well with ZERO issues.
Good luck bud. The majority of experienced trailer owners Dont buy ST they switched over to LT... Why cant you? What is your odd size? literally Any quality 1/2 (15'') or 3/4 (16'') ton truck (not SUV) tire will work...
Goodyear now has made in USA radial trailer tires. I've seen them and they look well made but am waiting until spring to purchase. Contact Rusty Smalls (Rusted Tires) for details and best price.
Goodyear Endurance.. They've been out for about 3 years But their to late... ST has put abad taste in a lot of peoples mouths... Myself I would love to see a good old school Bias trailer tire come back into production.
OK. there Made in China.. I wouldn't trust them on my Hearse with my dead body. Hankook makes a white wall. Made in South korea.. I trust that tire With my live body
I've had Maxxis trailer tires on all of my enclosed trailers (4 of them) and (knock on wood!) I've never had an issue with any of them. Good tread wear, always held air without slow leaks, sidewalls remained un checked, etc. I had one set of Goodyears an they were JUNK!! Too bad we have to rely on tires made out of the country! I'd much rather "buy USA" but not when risking a blowout and possible/probable damage. I've heard nothing but good reviews from people that have "actually owned and used" Maxxis tires on their trailers. Seem all the negatives come from hearsay, like "my brother in laws neighbors uncle had a set and they were junk!". LOL!
Jon, if you feel uncomfortable with a Maxxis tire by posters here, maybe try Cooper Trendsetter SE's that are available in you size and made here in the USA, in fact made in Ohio right up the road from me. I have them on my 1972 Electra, Centurion and Estate Wagon and couldn't be happier. Zero issues, just like the Maxxis trailer tires I have. Thanks Steve Reynolds for backing me up on this subject. I did a lot of research on tires and have both my open and enclosed trailer riding on Maxxis trailer tires. Zero issues from either, contrary to what others may say. And there IS a difference between LT and ST tires. Google it and be educated.
Brad, thanks for the tip on that. I've had Cooper tires before and have had good luck with them. I don't know why that tire didn't show up in my Google search.
FYI not all Coopers are made in USA. Most white walls and white letters are so they don't get as much damage in shipping. I've had good luck with Coopers as well as Nexen tires. Nexen was one of the few making whitewalls in the Roadmasters size.
I ran a set of 315/75/16 Maxxis BigHorns on my F250 from new until they wore out (about 25,000 miles for mudders). Good tires. Also have great experiences with them on ATVs, SxS's, and motorcycles.
Never had Maxxis but have had many sets of Coopers with great experiences. I did have one bad tire a few years ago fully covered by warranty even though it was a few years old and didn’t blow out. Good luck!
