I only met The Moon ONCE, and that was sufficient to know that he could be a BLAST!!! He organized a get-together at Myrtle Beach for us Buick Faithful. Loved his posting here on the site. He was a trip. Will miss him.
So sorry to read this news. I never had the pleasure to meet him but it’s obvious from all of the posts that he made quiet an impression on all that knew him. He will certainly be missed. RIP tufbuick
Sounds like the world...and the Buick community lost quite a character...so sorry to have never met him and prayers sent to his family...RIP Tufbuick.
Rest in peace Ron. Hanging out with Mooney was always one of the highlights for me at Buick events. You will be missed.
Moon was that guy who would tell a story .. and it would take 15-20 minutes to tell, but in a good way because the whole group was hysterical laughing interrupting it - thats the way he would spin the yarn. You would literally walk away with you sides hurting and your cheeks sore after a Moon session Larry you have any parking lots shots of the master story teller at work ?
There is video somewhere of him telling a story in the Ramada parking lot in 2005...I think it’s somewhere on one of your BPG DVD’s or a masshole video. I wish I could find it.
Even after death took him,he's still living large...That should tell you about his character and how much fun he really was. He sure knew how to liven up the party. His storytelling was just hysterical and kept a crowd interested. He wasn't afraid to walk up to you and talk to you or even walk up to you and give you a hug or handshake.Really...our world could use allot more Moons and less negative people..
Drew and I got to hear him first person doing this! Drew was a Sophomore in College and wanted to go to the NY International Auto Show. So being the good dad, we head off for NYC and hook up with some NE guys. Rick Martinez, Larry "The Whiz", Moon, Doug Hecker and several others. So we go to supper at a place right near The Waldorf called Lasagna's. Having a great time with good friends enjoying fantastic Italian food. Moon's cell phone rings and he answers. The SCREAMING of curse words I can't use here telling his "customer" where to go, how to get there and what to do once he was there was just like the above video! Did I mention Moon "curbstoned" used cars in the city and some of his rides were less than stellar and this particular middle eastern customer was less than satisfied with his purchase. Ron told him off in a big way! He slammed his flip phone shut and looked at all of us and said, WHATSDAMADDER!! Good times that I'm glad I had the privilege of experiencing first hand...
Ron's two sons operate a used car business on Long Island. These two guys can be just as entertaining as Moon was. They make the "Neutral Drop" videos you can see on You Tube, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc5IUyv4Wi_3ZklmerIW4-w That is Brian driving and Timmy in the passenger seat.
