My 72 has a stamped steel rad plate, my disasembled 70 has a plastic plate. Which is right for a 70? Andy
Depends on the build date of the '70. Plastic radiator cover, clear top overflow tank and pointed gauge lenses were part of the "early build" cars - cars assembled before the 1st/2nd week of January. As January rolled on, they switched to the metal radiator cover, black cover overflow tank and flat lenses. Of course, this isn't entirely set in stone, as my car is considered an early build but has flat gauge lenses as opposed to the pointed one.
I'll get the build date on the 70 when it stops raining. Just went to drive the 72 on the trailer to take it to work to part it, and the skies let loose. Even though the 72 is roached the interior is nice and the top is down. I know both cars have flat faced lenses on the gauges so my guess the 70 is a late build.
I bought the car as a roller and a ton of parts in the trunk. The top plate, fan shroud, 4 row rad, long arm rests, all the chrome, mint bumpers, and a 6AL setup. But it has Chevy mounts in it. I got it from a shop that does high dollar builds for alot of sports figures. It was a lien car. Sumbody ran out of money at a very expensive shop. But besides the title, there is zero pedigree on the car. In the end it will be a high end clone. The drivetrain going in is all 72 Stage 1.
