A younger dumber version of me bought a project years ago and apparently disposed of these during tear down. I need all 5. Also would like a good core crank shaft.

Keep in mind that putting non original caps on will more than likely require a line bore job to get things back in line......not just a hone

If it's not a numbers block it will be cheaper and easier to get another block.

It’s not numbers and that thought has crossed my mind but all the cores I’m seeing are ~$900 plus shipping and would at least need honed anyway. I was thinking the line bore would run me 200-300. I could be way off as I have not checked around yet.

It's going to be more than that....line hone is normally 150-250. And hone hss to follow bore.......not all shops can line bore.

Odd are also you might need a shorter timing chain too.

I had a set of billet steel caps installed on our motor after my center 3 caps got stretch and didnt fit the register anymore, luckily the new caps were finished small on purpose to allow cutting without having to get much more than a fuzz to the block.

Holy cow. Post a wanted ad here and you'll get a block for a few hundred bucks at most. I just sold a 72 block cheap..

For me. With all the other work already done to a block, the better caps at about 500, plus the labor to install was cheaper than starting over.

Someone have a decent block (and mains haha) with minimal core shift they want to part with?

Question please. What does it cost for a main tunnel line bore?
