I'm in need of a driveshaft for my 70 stage 1 4 speed. Mine is bent. I'd like to find a clean, straight one piece shaft. Assembly manual says 56" center to center.

    Thanks!!!

Jason is the drive shaft the same in a 70 auto and 4spd ?

I'm thinking about having one made for my 69. The one in the car had been modified for use with an automatic. bleh

    4 speed is longer.

May be same length as 350 but automatic driveshafts (at least in earlier years) had rubber isolator.

A longer one from a 70-72 4 door would work. I can cut it down.

STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

My 72 350 auto driveshaft worked behind my BBB & Muncie without mods

I wanted to try to retain the factory tapered shaft.

    Jason,
I often used the 4-door varieties and had them cut down. That way when finished they looked original. If you use the Buick versions, the front & rear universals were usually the big ones, so all that needed to be done was cut the shaft to size and re-weld the original larger front universal back on.
Worked like a dream, and my buds usually gave me the driveshafts for free.
It was another way to recycle parts.

PS. Don't forget to cut the front and rear universals off your bent shaft before you toss it. That is if they are the bigger style.

Looks like a 56" shaft but it's a two piece. I need a one piece. Thanks for looking Tom. I appreciate it

I though all the a body Buick driveshafts were two piece. Which cars got the one piece?
