Has anyone converted the factory dash clock to quartz internals ? I just finished the Dash on my 68 Custom and only item untouched is the non working clock . There is a kit available for GM clocks , relatively inexpensive that says it can be done w/ their kit in under 90 mins . Before I jump in was curious if anyone has done this , Thanks for the feedback.
Yes. I did it on a 70 clock. It was pretty easy other than trying to get the knob off. I’ll look for some pictures I took. If I remember correctly (did back in 2015), it's basically just getting the clock opened and then moving the gears from the old (gold color) unit to the new quartz piece (clear plastic) and putting back together. I did put a new cover on, so drilling the hole took some practice in the old piece. I used a real small bit first and then stepped up a few times to the right diameter.

I’m probably gonna do it. The company you mentioned Bill is the one I’ve been researching. The clock you refurbished Utah is looking good. What you have in your favor also is your clock is at least twice the size of my 68’s . So much easier to grasp the internals and see what your doing. Called the company this afternoon to determine the exact clock I have. Sales rep asked me if there was a Borg Warner stamp anywhere on my clock . Mentioned he thinks some 68’s have BW units installed from factory ( mine does not )
I got my quartz conversion done by Mark O(moleary on the board here). Easy to work with & so far the clock is working well. Kyle
I bought mine from OPGI at the time. I don’t recall who actually made it. I’ll have to check the original box when I get home. Cause I kept everything. I put the old internals in the box and stuck it in the closet. Nick.

I have converted many, so far so good, and I Have replacement parts like lenses and adjuster dials and faces 8 and 24 hour
I found a battery operated quartz clock at a thrift store. It takes some effort to find the right diameter size for the second, minute and hour hands but they only a couple bucks. It was a fun project making it work, backside was ugly but only the face is displayed. Best part is they run on a single battery so when i disconnect the car battery, it keeps the time.
Now that is a serious McGyver job...I could just see you in the store staring intently at each clock to decide if the clock shaft size will work.
