Headers for 69 Riviera help!

Trying to find some affordable headers for my 430 Buick. Ta has some but way too expensive. Any alternative headers I can run that won't hurt the pocket!? They want $500 plus. And I did my research trying to find some. Can buick headers work from like a 350 or 400 bucik? Or a A Body late 60s GM. Anything will help with info just doing my research. Thank you.

 

I'll sell you my old TA shorties, but they are old and refuse to hold a gasket in place. If you buy them I am not responsible for their performance. The new TA shorties are made much better than these first gen ones were.

How much? And u got some pics of them. And what you mean by they won't hold a gasket? Like they keep blowing?

 

You have 2 choices. Spend the money and get the shorties or build your own. You can get the flanges from TA and the J bend pipe from ARP. I searched and re searched just like you did and ended up biting the bullet and buying the TA's.

 

How those shortys work?

Its a factory Riviera A/C - Alt bracket. No mods. The Riv bracket sets the compressor lower in the car for hood clearance

I had mine coated and then installed them. They interfere with the steering box. I think someone else here confirmed that the same thing happened with their second gen Riv. So, dent 'em first and then get 'em coated.

 

Mine hit on the corner of the steering box. Ended up heating that spot and making big dimple there.

 

Ware are your mufflers Briz? Mine are up front close to the collector. The only other spot i can see would be out back tucked in tbe rear quarter panal cavity.

I just trial-fitted TA shorties on my 1967 Riviera. Passenger side fits fine, but driver side collector interferes with the steering box. A little hammering will probably do the job.

 

What I like about the shortys is that I can install them on the stand and then drop the completed engine into the car. No struggle fitting the headers as you slip the engine in.

 

I had no issues fitting shortys on my 455 in 1968 Riv.

 

I got a pair of shorties from jcwhitney.com that fit a 75 riviera with a 455 for my 70 455 that I am planning to fit t into a 77 Cutlass. around $200.00. I haven't fit them yet but they look like they to have a little straightening done to keep from blowing gaskets. I will let you know how it goes.

 

Remflex gaskets. Will not blow out.
