I have a 70 GS455.When I bought the car it had P255 60R 15s all around.The front tires rubbed in the front when turning into a driveway.The car does have the correct 15" chrome wheels.Who can tell me the correct size tires for the front?I will leave the tires on the rear as they do not rub obviously.
Brad, I'm not going to throw out radial sizes because I'm not sure what works. My 70 has 15's (WG's) with G60's and they don't rub, not even close. I do know there were different front wheel moldings that could cause rubbing in 70 with 15's. There was a regular molding that could rub. Then there was a "scalloped" type molding that didn't rub.
The optional tire that came on the 70-72 GS was a G60-15. The closest modern size to that is the P245/60R-15.
I have 255's on the front of my GS and they do not rub. There are other factors in play though. Some cars are lowered or have sagging front springs.

No, there is NOT more than one correct answer. P245/60R-15 is the closest to a G60-15. Lets compare tire sizes, A G60-15 had a section width of 9.70" and a tire height of 26.44" The P245/60R-15 has a section width of 245mm ( 9.65") and a tire height of 26.6" The P225/70R-15 has a section width of 225mm (8.86") and a tire height of 27.40"
