Oil temp sender with diaper?

So I'm going to get a diaper and want to install a oil temp gauge to monitor the temp since it's a full fill with girdle. Where's the best place for the sender in the pan as to not interfere much with the diaper?

Dan, are you running a bypass line to one of the rear galleys? That's where I am putting my oil temp gauge.

 

Be careful putting these senders inline........make sure it doesnt cause too much restriction......I was going to do this in my an6 tranny line but it nearly blocked the entire passage

A "sandwich" plate, (between filter housing and filter) would give the temp of oil before starting it's path for oiling. If it is "too hot" before it starts lubricating, that might be the best indication.

It also should not be any restriction to oil flow.

Adds about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch to the filter's length.

 

Yes I do,but it's only a #6 hose. Didnt see any blocks that small??

 

I wonder if system one makes a end plate with a fitting?

 

Mine is in the lower driver side of the pan. The temp tube has been bent over from the diaper. Still works just fine.

I drilled and tapped an 1/8" not into my postons pan.......never b4 realised how cold I was running my oil. In fall days even with a oil heater and trying to keep the temps near 180.....after 20 or 30 mins in the lanes is down to 140.

Seems like if I can leave near 160 its 180 after a pass.

Even with my encapsulated heater if i just leave it on it burns the oil........i use s 500watt heater, tried a 250 watt unit and even after 3 or 4 hrs the oil temp would hardly move the gauge off 100. I wish my pan was flat so I could put one on the outside of it..........but for now its started often to move the oil around so it doesnt burn on the heater and I use a timer on the heater as well

I hope with the use of my water block heater this will help stabilize the temps more


My heater and sensor or in fairly close proximity to each other so this might be some of the cause of cool down in the lanes.

Cant you just run the single wire for the sender up and out the diaper????

Yes I should be able to run that smaller sender and route the wire out of the diaper. On the drivers side of the pan.
