Aftermarket 455 oil pan

Looking for an aftermarket 455 rear sump oil pan. A Steve Reynolds pan, Poston pan, or TA pan would be ideal. This build does not have a girdle.

I recently exchanged a few emails with Glenn at CARS Inc and they still have them NOS. He has both styles (girdled or non-girdled) but Glenn said they do not have the hardware. The girdled pan #PE236D is $690, non-girdled #PE236C is $590 (these are the exact prices that were in the Poston catalog). Here is one of the emails from Glenn:

You are probably aware but they are not made correctly on the front edge and need to be machined to match the angle of the mating surface of the timing cover. After considering the cost of the pan, plus shipping, plus the time, effort, and expense of machining to fit corectly, I decided to pass for now. Maybe someone will respond with a used one at a lower price.

That is great information. I did not realize they needed to be machined to fit properly. I agree with you, that’s a little bit too much money and work for an oil pan!!!

Steve's pans are extremely nice..I was in the market for a pan when Steve was not making them due to personal reasons and purchased a TA pan.I am just as happy with it though as it filled my needs..

 

SRE pans are very very nice. Yes the postons pan do take a little work but the do add a little more support that just a sheet metal pan........

I've had my postons more than 20 years and love it

 

Those Poston pans look really nice. Does anyone has a real picture of one installed? I think it could match my Hughes deep pan of my TH200. 590 is a little steep, though.

Thanks Steve. You are right, used SRE pans are never offered up for sale!

 

My good friend Paul Wilke (Dr.Buick on here) is not currently using this one and said I can use it. What are friends for...

 

Just a little tapage and sealer it will be just fine

 

I have one similar to that..... Non Girdle SRE pan, Internal Oil Pickup with EXTRA holes! If you don't want to spend the money for a new one, I can repair that one or the one I have here for less than a new one. It won't look like a new one, but it'll function as one.
If interested just let me know...... I am booked quite a while out though......

What do you mean by that?
Can the Postons be used with internal pickup, also?
How much less ground clearance do you get, compared to stock?

 

Have you considered sending SRE at steel stock pan and having him modify and improve it? He can add capacity and baffles etc

 

Poston can be use with an inter al pick up....but they still have a hose on the outside that runs from the lower sump and goes back into a pocket in the pan at the same spot the stk pickup did.......ran minevthat way for 18 years till we went with the scavenger setup this time

 

As far as ground clearance it does hang down there a bit lower, I e only bounced it off the track once though and that was my fault with the new fro t suspension setup

 

I know this is an old post but is there still a chance I could get a poston girdle pan?
