Anyone running a Holley Sniper EFI. Just finished my Super Sniper install and am very pleased. Next step timing control with an MSD Pro Billet distributor once I get the fuel tables learned. Tuning is new learning experience I must say. Anybody else running same combo? I used a Tanks Inc tank with the Walbro 340LPH pump. A little over kill for a stock 350, but I’m planning ahead.
Pictures man! lol I'm going to be dropping the hammer on a Sniper unit soon. Thought it was going to be today but the dame summit code isnt working. I have an Aero fuel cell with the 340lph pump so far.
We installed it on my son's '79 Regal, Buick 350 and loved it, then over the winter he hit some black ice and a tree. The 350 ran 14.5 in the 1/4 with a worn out Comp cam. We replaced the wiped cam with a Lunati cam and it ran even better but before we could take it back to the track he had the accident. We are building an '85 Regal to replace the '79 now with a very healthy Buick 455 that he started building before the accident and transferred the Sniper system over to it on the new car. It runs great. So far we've put about 200 miles on it in mixed driving it's getting right around 15mpg with a TH350, 3.42 posi and 2200 converter. It pulls super strong. I want to get it for my car eventually. Ken
I did find that the Fast throttle cable bracket worked nicely and the Holley throttle extension is a must. The stock accelerator cable is a bit long but waiting till the replacement motor goes in with the SP3 to replace it.
I'm also planning on running a Holley EFI system on my 350, but planning to go with the new X-Flow as I'll be blow through. Either going to go with a Holley Sniper fuel tank or a RobbMC surge tank. Glad to hear the system works well!!
"Next step timing control with an MSD Pro Billet distributor" If you didn't drop the cash on this yet check out the Hyperspark ignition set up. Simple drop in distributor and designed to compliment the Sniper ECU. Bought distributor, coil and ignition box for my Sniper Quadrajet set up but then sold my house and in a rental so it's waiting in a box until I find another house! https://www.holley.com/products/ignition/hyperspark_ignition_for_sniper_efi/parts/565-312 Holley installation video for Hyperspark Bob
Already have distributor. Holley didn’t offer a hyper spark at the time of purchase. I was delayed slightly with install.
Well Steve - I'll be following along to see how it goes as that was my original intended solution as well. My Sniper runs well with the original distributor/coil set up but I can't wait for the opportunity to get the Hyperspark system installed so it has full control over timing. As an aside I always have a double take looking at 4-barrel Sniper installs because they are without fail installed oriented side to side whereas the Sniper Quadrajet orients for and aft.
Want to smooth the fuel table first to see if I can detect any improvement. I was surprised to see any beings the motor is original as far as I know. The fact it still had a nylon timing gear sort of confirms it. With the slowdown at work and the ease of traffic in NY I have a bit more free time. I’ll keep you posted.
For the Sniper Quadrajet on a stock 455 manifold in a '72 Electra I use a 3" x 14" filter on a 1" drop base. Did a crush test with some wadded up wet paper towel on the knob and no contact on the hood when closed. Bob
According to Summit racing here are comparative carb heights which makes the Sniper Quadrajet a tad shorter. Edited to add: Holley site gives the Sniper Quadrajet height as 3.28" but I measured pretty accurately. That may be the overall height including stud boss but no gasket.
