Well, its been a LOOOONNNGGG time since I've posted here but as some of you old timers may remember I had the longest standing Powerjection III thread many years ago. I've gone through several engine combinations since then but my recent venture was an E85 conversion on my blow thru turbo setup. I went all out and had Kevin@CSU build me a custom carb and boy did the addition of that carb and E85 made a big difference in power.

Unfortunately, the car sits for long periods of time since im still in the process of restoring the body. E85 does NOT like to sit in tanks for long before they start to cause all sorts of issues. So, I recently decided to covert back to my previous gas/meth inj combo but instead of spending $1300+ for a built gas carb I figured I'd give fuel injection a try.

This will be my thread documenting the install and eventual issues I'm sure to have. I'll throw up some pics once I get the system in the mail. Should be fun.

Jason, you will be so happy with this. Blowers plus this type of fuel injection system are awesome. I use a Fitech but the Sniper is very similar. Things I recommend, in tank fuel pump, a really good alternator, fuel pump pressure gauge, and added ground wires.

I have a Super Sniper and very pleased so far. In tank and pump from Tanks Inc.

Sorry for taking so long to update this. I'll take some more detailed pictures tomorrow to show all the stuff I've done up to this point. I managed to take the car for its first drive today and the EFI system worked flawlessly. It's started up the first try every time so far and throttle response is the best ive ever felt. Don't plan on getting into boost until I've got at least 150 miles or so on the clock so the computer has time to populate the fuel curve. After that's done, ill install the meth injection syste and start tuning WOT.

You have a 455? who did the turbo manifolds? ( i got a 455 in the making as well)

The Sniper throttle body places the throttle lever 3/4" out from where it would normally sit so I had to add an extension to the throttle bracket. Cant really see it but I also drilled and tapped a hole in the stock throttle stud on the intake to give the bracket two points of contact.

Ever since I took the car apart, ive been looking for a battery tray replacement since the stocker was so corroded. After years of looking I decided to modify a 72 A-body tray to work. It took some pounding with a hammer but I was able to align one of the stock tray holes and the other two I drilled. I also had to modify the Optima hold down clamp to clear the tray and I also added a piece of 10ga steel to add a little bracing to the plastic bracket. I painted the tray with Eastwood rust convertor and then covered it with their underbody coating.

I'm using the stock manifolds. I have them feeding the turbo via tubes that go under the cross member and come up in front of the engine (pics are in my build thread somewhere in this forum). It's an Borg Warner S475 turbo with Turbosmart 60mm wastegate (7psi spring) and one of their BOVs. Ported Edelbrock heads, TA cam, forged pistons and rods with about a 9:1 CR. The fuel system in an A1000 with the appropriate pre and post filters -10 line to a Mallory FPR, -8 return and -8 feed to the Sniper. I plan on adding a AEM meth injection system as well.

Well, if I didn't have bad luck id have none at all. Finally, got the e-water pump wired up. I wired in a relay to trigger the pump off the ignition and when I turned the key. I did a quick voltage test at the connector and was seeing 12V so I hooked the pump up directly to the battery and still nothing. Dead pump. :( Looks like a call to TA tomorrow is warranted.

Spoke to the techs at Meziere today and was able to figure it out. They said that, sometimes, the rtv will squish onto the impeller and keep it from rotating. Easy solution though as they have a provision in the front of the pump to manually rotate the impeller (think like a garbage disposal). It barely took an 1/8 of a turn and wallah, impellor rotates. Al is well now and the pump runs as it should.
