I found this in a box of parts I bought a while ago anyone have any ideas as to what it is or used for?? Is it even automotive related??
It it was not threaded Id say it was a door hinge bushing. If made out of alumn I'd say a nut-sert. But being brass and threaded I have no idea
Thread size no, but it's a coarse thread. Flange diameter is 1 1/2" across and 3/16" thick. The shaft diameter (insert joke here ) is 1" and shaft height is 1". The inner hole with the threads is 11/16" and total height with flange is 1 3/16"
No, what you see is what I have. It was just randomly in the box of parts. For all I know it could've been dropped in there when the guy was moving crao around in his shop to find the parts for me when I was going to pick them up? I just don't want to chuck it away and find out I needed it for something
LOL =. do you got the plug in????? I was using the question as a reference to what a transom drain is.... That is still a guess on my end........ Are the treads NPT? plugs are NPT.
I'm not sure on the threads if they're NPT? I'll break out the tap set tomorrow and see what one fits and report back with the thread type.
Looks alot like a lead screw bushing to me. Hard to tell, but looks like a regular thread and not an acme thread. Not automotive, but could be off of some kind of vise or something that requires adjustment. Probably either 3/4-10 or 3/4-16 thread.
DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER!!! So I emailed the guy that I bought the parts from asking him what it was, here is his response. Hi Bob, Haha that brings back memories. That is an ACME threaded brass lead screw nut from my first year project in engineering school. Sorry that got mixed in, there was a mixture of school project parts and car project parts. I though I picked all the school stuff out but I guess I missed one. Sorry about that, David
