I bought a set of 350 poston covers but they werent flat so instead of milling them just returned for refund.
One of the repro parts houses. I think it was a wheel center cap decal off of another car. I cleared over it to protect it
I got a reply on the valve covers. They have both 350 and 455 sets. 350 Valve covers 125.00 Per set plus shipping Shipping is 16.20 (to my address) They take visa Or Master Card Phone # Is 970 297 7064 address is 3842 Redman Dr Ft Collins Co 80524
I never liked the allen head bolts. Thought it was like using metric threads. No allen heads on entire car....plus you lose your factory wire loom retentions.
I just ordered a set of 455 covers from Roland. I questioned him about the issue of flatness that Poston had. He told me that they check them before he ships them.
So what are the best options for oil fill and breather holes? What's the best way to cut them? Hole saw?
I tried a hole saw but without a drill press it was jumping around a lot, I had better luck with a pilot hole followed by a step bit. If you have a drill press then hole saw or Rotabroach would work well. If you're doing my method, you might need to step bit both sides as these things are pretty thick. The covers come with a hole guide on the inside which is nice, but I didn't find them to be super accurate. Though again I was using a hand drill so it could have been operator error! Middle of this page has some info on how I did an oil fill cap, but I went a little extra: http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/patricks-twin-turbo-350-build-thread.344770/page-5
Larry, 1.25" OD hole is common. Usually 1" ID for breather and 3/4" for PCV ID for grommet. Use grommets for aluminum valve covers. Those valve covers don't have baffles. There is a closed breather that houses a PCV. It uses the 1" ID grommet. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Aluminum-Va...ash=item2aa331ce47:g:dzoAAOSwjytagK1Z&vxp=mtr
No probs! I used this grommet for breather since it had a built in baffle, it lists for a 1.22" hole but pretty sure I did 1 1/4". It has a 3/4" opening: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mor-68772 And the oil cap is actually a "Monza" style fuel filler cap bought from here ($$$): https://www.fillernecksupply.com/2-classic-monza-flip-top-filler-cap-2-x-18tpi-mon2x-monc2/ Mounting flange that I modified to fit: https://www.fillernecksupply.com/steel-weld-on-tank-collar-for-2-monza-gas-cap-2x18tpi/
