I run the G60-15 Goodyear GT Polyglass on my 72 Stage 1 and love the way they look but hate the way they drive, but they stick better than TA Radials surprisingly enough when “gettin’some”......So we decided to buy a set for my Sons 70 Stage 1 Since they introduced the L60 size which are about 1 1/4 wider and about 1 1/2 taller because he’s making about 100 hp more than me, but showing is our first priority, not racing, and just like all BBB guys we “hit it” all the time.

so, my question is before we mount them does anybody have this size mounted on a car yet? Picture or experience is helpful....chime in. A220EA00-A880-4D7B-A946-50EB974BF67C.jpeg

Hi, saw your question. When I bought my 70 stage one back in 1983 it had L 60 ployglass tires Mounted on the original 15 x 7 WG's I still have them. While my stage one was out of service for a while I put them on my daily driver 71 skylark stock springs and one of the tires caught the edge of the wheel house and sliced the tire. The original owner had changed out the springs in the rear of my stage 1 so it sat a little higher.

When I bought my 70 GSX 34 years ago , It had L-60 15 "JET STREAKE " mounted
    on the 70 WG wheels . They were 27" tall x 9 " tread x 11" wide .
They had a tread pattern that looked a lot like the Goodyear pattern.
When going around corners , they would rub the inner fender (wheelhouse )
on one side and the outer chrome trim on the other side .
    Hope yours works out .

We bought the F60-15 for the fronts, the L60-15 is for the back. I have G60 all the way around on my 72 and never an issue what-so-ever other than they are very “active” driving lol, wander like crazy!

Bill, that's exactly what would happen with my 71 skylark with stock springs. I never had an issue when I drove my stage one because the rear springs were changed out and it sat I'd say an inch to an inch and a half higher.

Try some 275 60 15 DOT Hoosier drag radials. Sticky as can be.or Mickey Thompson’s.
    Fun tires.

We run drag radials, these are for shows only because both cars are correct looking all the way around and the period correct tires is icing on the cake.

Hooser makes several types of 275/60 x 15 drag tires. One looks like a slick with very small grooves and the other is called the "Quick Time" with tread that looks like street tires. Which one do you like?

The L60-15 is 27.86" tall with a section width of 10.50" That's about the same size as a P275/60R-15 at 28" and 10.83" respectively.

    Yes absolutely
    I have 295s on my Chevelle w 4.30s
    275s on Buick w 3.42s
They both work great on respective cars.
Not correct looking tires. But drivability and fun factor is great.

I'll have to take a pic with both tires side by side. The L60s are much taller and wider than the 275s. The 275s look like pizza cutters in comparison.

That would be great Joe, I'm just relying on my literature:)

Of course the Bias Ply tires have a much different appearance being the squared off tread compared to a Radial Ply tire. Even a G60-15 looks fatter than the P245/60R-15. Wish we had a tread measurement as well on my chart.

Tread on the BiasPly L60 is actually 9.75 I measured .......

Tread width on the Cooper Cobra P275/60R-15 is 8.5" according to the Tire Rack Specs, yet the section width is 10.7" (Click on specs and scroll down)

That's why the L60 appears much larger. Tire construction.

I had the tires side by side today. Both are mounted on 15x7" rims. (I know each tire should have at least an 8" rim) Anyway, to my surprise the tires were nearly exactly the same height. The 275 had a tread width of 9", the L60 was 10.75. I thought for sure the L60 was at least an inch taller.

The 275 is a firehawk and the L60 is a Mickey Thompson sportsman pro which I think are discontinued these days.

Thanks for measuring Joe. Pretty much lines up with the chart I posted.
