https://www.championradiators.com/2-row-Buick-Skylark-radiator-1968-1973 Would 3/4 tubes be sufficient? I don't see any 1" tube offerings.
My msd distributor doesn’t have a vacuum advance either. I’m calling Derek later since he hasn’t been on here much , get the stroker finished. Your picking up your engine Friday. Need mine to get worked done
I emailed Champion Radiator and the one they list for Skylark '68-73 (EC-161) has the 3/4" tubes. They said the (AE-161) has the 1" tubes, but they are out of stock till October There is a dimensional difference between them: (EC-161) Radiator Dimensions: Total: 18.63" tall (19” with cap) x 33" wide Core: 17" tall x 28.25" wide x 1.75" thick Inlet: 1.5" driver side Outlet: 1.5" passenger side Tanks: 2.5" thick Tubes: 0.75" thick (AE-161) Radiator Dimensions: Total: 18.25" tall (19” with cap) x 33" wide Core: 16.75" tall x 28.25" wide x 2.25" thick Inlet: 1.5" Outlet: 1.5" Tanks: 2.5" thick Tubes: 1" thick Overall the AE-161 is shorter by 3/8" but the same width. The core is 1/4" shorter, and is 1/2" thicker. Will the AE-161 fit without having to modify anything?
Both aluminum. But the one they sell for my car is 3/4 tube and from what I've read here, 1" tube is the min I would want for aluminum. I just don't know if the slightly shorter, but wider one will fit without mods.
I disagree. The whole point of using aluminum is for the bigger tube sizes. Get the right radiator. The AE161 is a nice radiator for the money. If it was my car, I'd get the best I could, 2 rows of 1 1/4" tubes, it's the ultimate.
Will it fit though? I don't think they sell anything close with 1-1/4" tubes. I asked for 1" or 1-1/4" and they came back with the 1" model
Yes, I believe it will fit. I seem to recall other guys using that radiator. If you search here, you'll probably find some threads.
Try griffin radiators. Probably more then you need. https://www.griffinrad.com/inc_exac....38 X 18.53&select_Sub_Group_Transmission=TOC
The plastic tank HD version 1800Radiator has will do the task exceedingly well,...for $165 I live in SC,..IE the surface of the sun during the summer I have put them in customer cars,..they are in all our cars,..I never see over 200 sitting in traffic Out driving with normal stop and go,..you'll never see over the Tsat rating,..just my experience,..be it aluminum heads or iron heads
Can't find the tube size on this one, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sgt-cu165 The outlets are 1 9/16", but it should fit.
Just ordered this from Jegs to replace the one I put in a while back. In the process of building new motor and inside was starting to build up too much scale. Don’t want to risk running too hot. Universal fit but very close. Just have to modify rubber cushions and use a Chevelle lower hose to fit the larger bottom outlet.
I want to thank everyone for helping me out with everything, and I mean everything! Thank you I've had replacement plastic side tank radiators before in my '97 Silverado and I didn't have much luck with them not leaking. I think I'm going to wait until the AE161 comes back in stock. I think that's the best quality option without breaking the bank. The only down side is I will probably have the car up and running with the OEM radiator before that, and have to swap it out when I get the new one. Not really a big deal for a month or so. I never had any cooling issues with the OEM, but I want better for this build.
I used to trailer a 19 foot fiberglass bow rider 100 miles (200 Rd trip), with the GS every weekend during summer, for two years with the original Harrison. You'll be just fine.....
