Wise man once told me "It's better to screw it up yourself than to pay someone to screw it up."

If you make a mistake it's OK. You've learned something for the next time.

Started scraping the nasty super caked up gross sludge build up off and removing more accessories. The alternator bracket bolt broke off immediately so hopefully there is not too much more of that going on. Still have to order the fuel filter/regulator and lines. Also have to get new tranny and motor polyurethane mounts.

For the record, I bought the car with all the nasty in the engine bay.

I purchased the new gas tank. The motor is now attached to the stand and ready to get some mods. I might hold off doing the cam until I have the motor in and running. I really want to have the swap running within the next month. I dont want to have to worry about having to get it tuned yet. I can always swap the cam in later even though it is easier to do while the motor is out. I am going to probably get the fuel lines and stuff sorted out next. 20200904_183726.jpg

Cracked open the oil pan, trimmed the windage tray and installed the new pan hand tight since I had no rtv for the reinstallation per Holley's recomedation. I will be coming back to it soon.

Also broke a core support bolt so I will have to extract that later. Shoulda just left it!

Motor looks good though. No issues there.

Just ordered all new SBC clamshell mounts, tranny mount, fuel lines and fittings, high flow fuel filter and any adapters needed. I also ordered a conversion u joint from 1410 to 1350 u joints.
Definitely feeling the pocket pain but I should soon be done spending.

Fuel filter is a high flow. All fittings are AN6.

Fuel Setup is all set. Clamshells and inserts are here so I have everything to mount the motor. I am going to fabricate the tranny crossover so thats good. I received the poly tranny mount.

I need to cut the hole in the tank and install the fuel pump. Now its time to pony up and get the nads to pull the Buick 350.

I may need to put the new motor in a few times to make sure the massive new tranny will fit. I am attempting to not have to buy a new driveshaft. We will see.

So pic below shows the fuel setup, green line represents the fuel lines. from the fuel rail to the high flow filter regulator then to the pump via the bottom hose and the top is a return line.

Another $113 down the drain. Purchased the fuel sender and gaskets required as well as a Koul tools AN-6 fitting tool with an AN-6 wrench.

Had some time today while waiting for a summit shipment so I took a few moments and sealed up the oil pan permanently. Once my shipment comes in tomorrow, there will be some good progress.

I also cut the buick exhaust and removed the shift linkage. The only obstacle for factory motor removal left is removing the fuel lines and motor and tranny bolts.

Well... $h!t got real today. Motor is out and the engine bay degreasing has begun. Now I can mount the new motor mounts and figure out if the 6l90e will fit without floor modification. (Highly doubt it).
Im pretty pumped that I will be test fitting the LS soon!

Forgot to drain the tranny and got fluid all over the floor. Oops

As always, here are some pics.

A 5 min burst from my pressure washer cleaned up the engine bay enough for me to climb in to remove one engine mount to test fit the new chevelle mount 3 inches forward. I made a plastic curtain to keep as much water out of the garage as I could. Worked very well. Apparently the steering rack is blue.
