Well, here is my theme song(link below) after digging Rosie out of a massive poison ivy grow this weekend. My recollection was “I didn’t react too bad to this stuff” lol WRONG FRITZEE SMARTIN!”. Covered in Calamine lotion itching like a hound, good thing Rosie is cute (can’t get mad at her : )
Just got over some poison oak on my arm. Got it from helping a guy get a big tree out of the road that fell right in front of him driving down the road. It left 2 scars on my arm.
The key word FRITZENKILLER is NON SELECTIVE HERBICIDE. Give all that acreage the scorched earth policy. Make sure you scrub your hands before making tinkle after poison stuff contact ws https://www.amazon.com/RM43-43-Perc...ocphy=9019117&hvtargid=pla-350174095664&psc=1
Was driving equipment, ground crew had started a brush fire after piling up tree cuttings. I went over and told em to get away from the fire The trees were covered in poison ivy . 3 of em ended up in the hospital from breathing in the smoke. Jim
Never got poison ivy once as a kid despite plenty of time spent in the woods. Friend I hung out with got it constantly. Not fun.
I have never been allergic to poison ivy or poison oak. But my sister could just look at it and get it!
Caught the worst case I've ever had crawling up a creek enbankment after flipping my '63 Lemans. So bad that my entire body was covered in ooze. Got infected. All Momma could do was stuff clean sheets under and around me and try to dry it up. Calamine lotion? Ha! Leaves three, leave it be.
To all of you that CLAIM no reaction to poison ivy/ oak/ sumac, bear this in mind... I formerly USED to be not allergic to poison ivy, but one day a few years ago, a vine merely touched my arm, and I broke out in ooze less than five minutes later. A few weeks ago, I wore long sleeves, leather gloves under disposable nitrile gloves, long pants, and shoes. I must have touched were the vine touched my shoes and touched my arm after I was cleaning up. My arm broke out in the area inside the elbow with several spots and developed sores about the size of the small fingernail. I had to take Benadryl gel on the elbow, and Benadryl makes me SLEEPY!!! Now I can merely be near it and I think I would break out.
Man O man! Definitely don't feel alone now! Lol Yeh, I was trying to get Rosie's leash out of there but it was allllllllllllll tangled up in it to the point I just said the heck with it I am not THAT allergic to it! Like Steve shared that was not a simple "no" but a "HELL NO!" get outta there! Yeh, of course I have chronic dry eyes so rubbed them both as dust was flying while pulling the knotted up areas out by the roots (ugggggggggh) and then I realized I needed to take a leak during the whole fiasco (uhhhh yep, you got it, or actually I got it! Lol) oops and then there were a couple normal itches during the joyful event to spread the love. Even got it all over my ears as glasses slipped off from sweat which is PURE joy as thin as that meat is there (about itched through them already) and several other random exciting areas. Yes Bill! Operation Scorched Earth will be initiated as soon as we get through the hurricane generated rains pass. Thanks for the chuckles as well as sharing the misery! I definitely won't be underestimating this mess ever again!
...cortisone is better than calamine. As a kid, I could get PI when someone burned vines a mile away. Thought I outgrew it. Nope, got it with a vengeance in my 30s after clearing property. I had rash on rash so bad had to go to doc. Cortisone shot plus ointment, and told me allergy increases with contact. Still get minor case now and then, especially handling mulch, they grind PI vines off logs as they're debarked. For me, oak and sumac variants are nastier...
I have had some issues with poison Ivy. Spoke with an old logger in my area about it and he recommended massive doses of vitamin C. The C did lessen my symptoms the last time I was exposed.
Yeh, I might put a call into the nurse & see if they will call me something in at pharmacy to ease things a bit. We have Benadryl but like Steve not a huge fan. Gonna go look for some Vitamin C in the cabinets, worth a try. Had to totally coat both arms, ears, eye lids & forehead, bet I am looking spiffy! Lol
Aspercreme with 10% lidocaine (OTC) plus the benadryl. Works well for the 'roids too. To keep this Buick related so the secret agents dont attack, the bottom end gets squishy after a smoking hole shot right??? ws
Yer right brother Bill! I was looking at my 70 GSX 455-4 speed wanna be while Rosie was getting all tangled up in the poison ivy lol (Hey it’s true!)
