517” Buick Build

    Winter build. This will be a street strip engine that I can drive on 93 octane.
    Billet crank,4.350” stroke,2.100” journals
    7.125” aluminum rods
    Nice and short pistons
    74 block,partial fill,main & lifter girdles
    Scott Brown solid roller
    Rollmaster chain
    AMP oiling system with Steff’s aluminum pan.
    Frankenstein Stage2 heads to move air
    Jessel rocker system

    Should be fun. I’ll keep you posted.

    Nobody local. I don’t want to wait 4 years.
    Yes,I have really waited 4 years to have something done local before.
    Compression should be around 11:75:1
    I’ve ran 12:1 on 93 with an iron head for 20 years. This will be easier.
    I’m actually reusing the pistons from when it was a 505”. I went from a 4.250” stroke to a 4.350” stroke,and changed the rod.

    Ok I ask since Noone has yet......what the purpose of the step in the floor runner on the intake

    Sounds a little bit like my Tomahawk build finishing up now. 529 in. 4.375 x 4.400 crower ultra light 3.0 mains 2.100 rods Saenz steel rods 11.52 Comp. Bullet solid .262 .274 on 112 LS stage 2 TE. Holley efi with 4l80e trans. It’s been a long time coming. should be on Dyno soon

    No step. The runner floors were filled and the port roofs raised. Pushrod holes moved,widened runners.
    Weld,fill,repeat.

    Got you, that was going to be my next question about the tube guides.....lol. I see it now........the epoxy fill looks like a step up.......but these must had started as regular port heads not raised

    This is really nice build overall, and the heads are especially interesting. Can you share any flow numbers?

    The ports were raised and widened with the floor being epoxy filled.Similar to a TE head. We can do some flow bench work too if he wants to know the actual flow

    how far were they widened. I know my old stage to track eliminator heads Flowed 373 after converting to Jesel and widening the port to 1.540 flow was 383 cfm however it did not drop off at higher lifts. This seems to be about maximum flow without welding into water jackets

    Will have to measure it. Whoever did the work did a good job though.
