Has anybody seen a car such as above.1976 Park Avenue with no 1/4 window? Or a 1976 4 door with no 1/4 window? Jim
It was fairly common around here in Chicago to see brand new 75/76 Electras with custom tops like that . Most had the sail panel glass covered up on the inside, some i've seen didn't.
When I worked at Wilkie Buick around 75-75 the asst. service manager took 3 employees out to Chicago to pick up 3 of these custom tops cars . They were really super padded . They drove them back to Philadelphia to sell . Cars had over 900 miles on them when they got to Philly . The window was still open to see out . .
The custom tops on those cars look a little better on the 4drs. The 2dr cars that had them looked pretty hideous, especially when they would have various shaped opera windows in place of the the original quarter glass. I've seen diamond, double diamond, square, rectangles and Lincoln Mark 4 ovals to name a few. I'm glad that trend is over, now if we could just make all the clown cars disappear....
