Hi All, I just replaced the pump and drained my box and was wondering if their were advantages to one over the other? Best regards, Mike
Can I Mix Power Steering Fluid with Transmission Fluid? (can you use power steering fluid for transmission fluid) – AutoVfix.com Bob H.
I got a 93 dodge CTD. they use a Saginaw PS gear & pump. With ATF the system would be jerky. Foam in ATF.. They recommend ATF... Pumped out ALL the ATF. replaced with PSF.. Smooth as can be..
At work our FFV's (rhd Ford Explorer) say to use atf. If we put ps fluid in them, steering shudders, so there must be a difference. I usually use what the manufacturer wants.
I got a Yamaha outboard Power trim & tilt... Hydraulic rams..... I use the factory power trim fluid it leaks out the seal..... Always adding more fluid. After a while I got sick of it...I got most of the factory crap out.. Toped it off with NAPA power steering fluid has not dripped a drop in years..
In other Words use what works the best...... Manufactures dont make the parts that are on the products they sell....
