I'm on the waiting list for a AE161 when they come in October. Decided to go with the shroud and electric fans and ditch the 4 blade.
looks like your using the rubber end seals on the intake. ditch them. use black silicone. no leaks. head studs are the way to go. i need/use them for the 6-71. some use them on the bottom end. i don't. never had any problems
Keep the seals. Use a knife to cut the ridge off of them. Use Indian head shellac on the underside and topside of the seal with RTV in the corners under the head. Set the intake on when it tacks up but isnt dry yet. Let it sit for a bit before putting bolta back in. Its the ridge that makes them squeeze out or suck in like that. As soon as I shaved it off it stopped.
Yay! It's in. Nice little roll around engine stand. Might just be pic, but the end seal looks ready to escape on the corner...
I haven’t used those stupid end seals in years, RTV is better and you won’t have the black carpet look from oil weeping out
It depends on what you used as sealer. Gasgacinch and they will separate no problem. Something stickier and they may tear.
I used AMP Mikes lifter valley pan which actually covers the rail, so that's probably the bulge issue. There's RTV on top and bottom of the rubber end gaskets.
Yeah, that's the problem. Way too much there. The rubber end seals require NO RTV at all. Now you put the AM&P pan in there too, no wonder it is squeezing out the seals. Remove the rubber seals. Just the pan, RTV top and bottom of the pan, no rubber end seals.
Thanks guys! Better now (while its easy) than after everything is back on the manifold and oil is leaking down the ends.....
Custom rockers. Guys that did all the machine work had them made specifically for this build. I'm surprised nobody else noticed that until now, you should win a prize!
