Brad is the Hamvention an indoor or outdoor event? Unless forced by the government, Dallas Jones will not cancel any more events. Beech Bend held events in late 2020 that were much larger than the GS Nats such as LS Fest (imagine the GS Nats in its heyday and multiple it by 2 or maybe 3). They also held their weekly racing program all through the Fall season which each week draws more cars than the GS Nats does now. So ladies and gentleman keep prepping those Buicks until you hear that the event is officially cancelled or postponed.
Gary, the Hamvention is indoors and outdoors and mostly indoors. I've never been, even though have wanted to for many years! I believe you are right abt Beech Bend we need to carry on with plans!
Geez guys, never said we wouldn't have our event! I just stated a fact that many other national events have been cancelled for 2021 already and gave an example. I have zero inside info into the thinkings of the GS Nationals organizers, just that a very large event held at about the same time of year, larger that the nats was in its heyday, has already been taken down because of the pandemic. I was just commenting to the fact things can happen and gave an example. As far as Dallas holding events last year, I'll point out that MCACN was cancelled last November, well after racing season ended in Bowling Green. I agree! Go and have fun!
MCACN is an indoor event. An indoor wintertime event in the Chicago, IL area and a springtime outdoor event in BG, KY are not comparable situations. Racing season at Beech Bend ended 1 week after MCACN on Thanksgiving weekend. It was a very well attended weekend of racing. Planning to see you all at BG until told otherwise.
I booked mine about a month ago. Some won't believe it, but this will be my first time at BG. My job was always holding me back from taking time off during May of October, since we were so busy during those times. Now I can take off whenever the hell I want I have no idea what I'm bringing down, but we will be there regardless.
Haven't been to the GS NATS lately . When will info on registration be out . Years ago , there was a full page of costs and fees ???? Bill
I am sorry to inform the we will not be able to attend. My wife Jodie had be diagnosed with Covid 19 an her doctors have advised her to stay put through end of May...
Sorry to hear. Hope she's OK and that you don't get it. I went in '17-18 after a 20 year hiatus. I hate to say this as I'm sure a lot of work went into it, but it was an extremely poorly organized event especially for as small & longstanding of an event as it is. Maybe if one is a GSCA member the info is more readily accessible but seemingly one can just show up at the gate. One of many issues I had w/it was I'd have re-joined while I was there if it'd been remotely obvious where to do so. Once you pay at the gate, you get no information/program regarding a schedule, show classes, race classes, etc. I assume Richard Lassiter knows about the "GSX Reunion" but if not... It's also be nice if there was a special parking area for non-show Buicks. I'm not overly inclined to bring a car otherwise.
